About this mod

Just a very small mod I made for myself to get rid of some select few annoyances I have with some of the game's sound effects.

The long and short of this mod is: I dislike some nuances of the game's sound effects, even with sound overhauls like AOS. So I'm hand selecting individual sound files and tweaking them to my content.

Current List of Sound Files Edited
  • Healing Effects: Edited the mag_restoration_drawsheathe_lpm file which is used in most of the restoration school spells when equipped, and is the culprit of a really annoying constant tingly-sound during the entire time it is equipped. This tingly sound has been removed so that the loop while the spell is equipped should be completely silent. The sounds that occur when sheathing/unsheathing the spell still occur though.
  • Found that pesky reanimation sound. Turns out its part of AOS - so anyone that's not using AOS will not have any idea what noise I'm even talking about! I will add under this bullet point, the reason for why I wanted to add this tweak: Serana. Serana practically spams her reanimation spell. People who play with Serana's raise dead spells turned off probably did not get bothered by this noise, but it was occurring every few minutes for me and it was driving me nuts. Maybe it will prove useful for someone else who is/was in a similar situation to me.
  • The sneak attack sound. I know there's already a mod on the Nexus that edits this sound in the game. From what I can tell, the meat and potatoes of what it does is simply adjust the .wav file from an .esp - effectively using an .esp file for no reason. I edited the .wav file itself and just cleared out the audio. No ESP needed!

Future Plans

  • No future plans are in place at the moment. If you would like something tweaked for your own use, leave a comment in the discussions/posts tab on the mod page and I'll do what I can to implement it!
  • I might try to upload a comparison video of the tweaks I have made so far, so that people can hear what I'm talking about and not think of me as some kind of nut job.

Compatibility Notes

  • Will conflict with anything that modifies the mag_restoration_drawsheathe_lpm.wav file or any plug-in that adjusts references to sound files for the restoration school, in addition to the mag_conjure_reanimate.wav file or the ui_sneak_attack_01.wav file.
  • Should you desire to implement the features of this mod without losing valuable features from more amazing mods like AOS or...whatever...just make sure this mod overwrites anything from those other mods. As it stands currently, I don't believe AOS has edited these particular files. My testing has shown that the AOS plug-in mainly points to sound files of their own or adjusts sound effects within the Creation Kit; this mod has been fully compatible after about 20 hours of playtime.
  • Report any incompatibilities in the Bugs tab; I may miss your post in the regular post section.

Install

  • Manual: You should know how this works. If you don't, you probably shouldn't be installing stuff manually. This is a simple mod.
  • NMM: I imagine just enable the mod. You can verify the mod is activated by checking for the listed .wav file in your Data/Sound/FX/MAG/Restoration folder. I don't use NMM though, so don't quote me on that.
  • MO: Download, install, activate, keep low enough on your order that the loose files overwrite anything that might conflict (assuming you want this mod to do anything!)

Uninstall

  • Just reverse the process of what you did for the Install. Again, you can verify by checking the directory mentioned in the Install section to make sure the .wav files are no longer there. There are no scripts to be concerned about, no archived .bsa's...this is a barebones mod. And I hope to keep it as simple as possible.
