About this mod

Still in early development, SCMuR will replace all of Skyrim's default music in the game with custom music I'm creating specifically for this purpose.

Description

SCMuR aims to replace all of Skyrim's default music in the game with new tracks that I'm creating specifically for this purpose. Every piece of music in the game, from combat and exploration to tavern and 'palette' tracks, will be replaced with entirely new content when the mod is eventually completed.

What's different about this compared to other music overhaul mods?

There are plenty of music overhaul mods available for Skyrim that people put together, usually by creating a compilation of scores they find around the internet that fit a medieval-fantasy theme.
However, most of these music mods use compositions by third-party artists, with or without permission. SCMuR's music will comprise of orchestral and medieval-fantasy themed music that I'm personally composing from scratch.

Why is SCMuR being released before completion?

I'm releasing SCMuR in such an early development phase for a few reasons. Firstly, it's always a great idea to get feedback on any project of any type prior to its finalization.  User feedback can make something bad into something good, and something good into something great. After all, who's more qualified to criticize a project than those it's catered for?
Secondly, I've been casually developing it on-and-off for almost a year already.  As such, if this mod were to gain a little more of a following then I'm a heck of a lot more likely to invest more of a substantial amount of time and effort into its creation.
Another reason, and possibly the most important, is the fact that when I first started working on SCMuR I didn't quite fully grasp how long it'd take.  In the beginning, I was claiming to have it completed within a few months and the viewers of my LP series on YouTube weren't seeing any significant results. In a way, an early release of this mod is a small apology and thank you to those of you who have been waiting ever so patiently for nearly a year for this.

How long will it be until SCMuR is finished?

At this early stage of development, it's impossible to say for certain when SCMuR will be in a state ready for a finished release. I can potentially chug out one or two full-length orchestral tracks per day, but the lack of quality and variance of such rushed tracks aren't what I envision for this mod.  Quality over quantity holds true here, and I aim to have SCMuR's musical quality rival that of the game's default tracks when it's finally done.

Will SCMuR still be in development after Fallout 4's release?

With the release of Fallout 4 being so close, I'm sure that there will be a few of you wondering if that'll impact the development of SCMuR. The short answer is no, I won't stop working on this mod simply because a new game comes out. Sure, I'll want to play FO4 when it's finally out, but rest assured that it won't have a significant impact of SCMuR's development progress.

Final words

As previously stated, the best feedback I can receive is from those who the mod is intended for.  If anyone has any feedback and/or constructive criticism, I encourage you to speak up and let me know. For example, if you spot something in the mod or the music that isn't quite right then please don't assume that someone else will spot it as well and voice it. I'd much rather have ten people tell me about the same problem than nobody tell me at all -- the more the merrier. :)
