Black Book Fix for Dragonborn DLC
Spoilers: "He bravely fought his way through the endless halls of Apocrypha, seeking the knowledge his new found master was willing to reveal to him. After sheer endless hours of wandering around and fighting off some of the protectors of Herma's library he finally reached the Black Book. After just taking a quick glimpse at it he quickly came to realizations which were far beyond his imagination. «Finally. The knowledge of this book is mine. It is time to return to Solstheim and put this power to use.» - He reached out for the book, wanting to travel back to the real word, only to face an error message over and over again. Using his magical powers he used Google to find out that this is indeed a bug in the game which sadly has not been fixed by the Unoffical Patches."

This message broke my immersion when playing though Dragonborn the first time(Yes, I played through Dragonborn the first time in 2015, don't ask! :D).

What this mod does:
This mod fixes that some users are unable to read the Black Books inside of Apocrypha. This bug was not fixed by the Unoffical Dragonborn Patch for the simple reason of it not strictly being a bug. Bethesda just didn't think that their player base might use mods. For some reason traveling back to Solstheim from the Black Book requires Fast Travelling. This means that if you have any mod installed that somehow alters the fast travelling system (e.g. Frostfall) the book "thinks" you cannot fast travel.
With this mod installed the fast travel requirement is being removed which has no influence on the functionality of the book. (In fact I don't even know why fast travel was required in the first place since the teleporting is done using a scripted teleport and not by fast travel)

Demonstration Video:
Pretty much only shows entering Apocrypha and then leaving it without any error messages appearing as that is the only think this mod does. :)
The hotkey not being shown is added by mod I am using: Minimal HUD

Uninstallation:
  • Save the Game on a NEW, FRESH SAVE in an interior cell in Skyrim without any Black Books.

  • Be wary of using Save Game Script Cleaner as this mod makes modifications to a vanilla script, and you don't really want to clear out vanilla scripts.
