Don't update to the latest NMM yet!
Not until you know the risks and PREPARE
Greetings,
Real quick backstory: Sooooo, Nexus recently launched their latest and greatest NMM which adds in a cool new feature--profiles! However, in order to update to the latest version of NMM you will need to re-install ALL of your mods. (You are pretty much starting from square 1. This means all mods and customizations, patches, and tweaks all have to be re-installed / configured by you. Fun times eh?)
It's not all bad news though, there are few out there that upgraded without any issues--like the ones that haven't installed any mods yet. (A bit of bitter humor.)
So, in order to help those that may have had their game destroyed from this update, we have created this "mod", rather a place to post for players to help other players revert or find a fix. Also, to serve as a warning to those that haven't yet upgraded.
Now would also be a good time to mention taking a close look at Mod Organizer. It is an alternative to NMM (and has been out longer). Some on our team won't mod without it, while others don't care for it. Either-way, it is something to consider using at this point.
For those who have short attention spans, before you take off:
Number 1) BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE WITH NMM, backup your entire computer partition before installing 0.60.8. There is no rollback at this time, and many players are losing their installations; not just for Skyrim, but for Fallout 4, and other mods attached to NMM as well.
There is presently very little organized resources for this radical NMM upgrade, and a "how to" forum both for installing the software and rolling back is sorely needed.
Most of the SOT Team is down and out due to this upgrade. :-( (Sorry, we're going to take to take a slight intermission before continuing to make your nightmares come true.) One of our members lost not just Skyrim, but his Fallout and Vegas games as well. Total redo of all. I myself lost the entire Skryim setup and all my modding tools and so on. (Enter sentence full of frustration here.)
The hope is that the community can post here tip son upgrading to 0.60.8 and just as important how to recover from a failed install. In the meantime, make a FULL backup of the game partition, not just the Skyrim folder. Plan for the worst while hoping for the best.
