About this mod

A mod that overhauls the spell tome system by removing common tomes and having stones placed around the world map take their place. Find the stones to learn spells.

[Introduction]

Spell Stones is a small mod that changes how you play Skyrim in a big way. It does this by removing most of the spell tomes in the game from vendor lists and random loot. In their place, are the eponymous Spell Stones; 29 distinct monoliths scattered about the world. Some lie above ground, others underground.


[Functionality]

When you find a stone, you can activate it to receive a blessing. Each blessing has a script that will periodically check your magic stats and other attributes (such as what stones you've activated). Once you meet certain requirements (which can be read in full detail in the readme), the blessing will automatically teach you a spell. Some spells are learned automatically when you activate a stone, others take longer. When you have learned all the spells of a stone, a text box will display telling you so.
One thing to note before we move on: This mod does not get rid of the Master Level Spell quests from the College of Winterhold. If you wish to have those spells, you must still become a member of the college. However, upon completion of any of those quests, you will be given all the spells of the respective magic school, instead of being given one and then having to buy the rest.


[Compatibility]

This mod is compatible with any mod that adds new spells, such as Lost Grimoire or Apocalypse. It should [theoretically] be incompatible with any mod that significantly changes the Master Ritual Spell quests at the College of Winterhold, but not many mods do that.
