About this mod

Adds a simple dog follower that's made to be better than the vanilla ones.

Permissions and credits

Better Dog Follower was made to be a simple mod to add a dog that actually feels like YOUR dog. This is done simply by allowing the player to name the dog and to tell it where to go home to.

I felt a mod like this was necessary because in my personal opinion I always thought that most humanoid followers lacked personality (some modded followers excluded). which is why I always preferred the dog companions but even those just seemed like a random dog following you around all the time, and not like a real companion. I've found that simply allowing the player to name their pet and give them a home can greatly increase the connection you have with this dog.

Main
1. Adds a dog follower to Skyrim.
2. Let's the Player name the dog.
3. Allows you to set the dog's home.
4. Adds a Mod Configuration Menu that let's you bind a key to whistle for the dog to come to you.

Death Hound Addon
1. Adds a spell called "Transmogrify: Death Hound" that's given to the player when he or she becomes a vampire
1. While the dog is under the effect of the new spell it will explode into a Death Hounded when it's health drops to zero, restoring it back to full health and scaring away any undead.

I've placed the dog somewhere that you should stumble across during normal play but encase you want to know where to find the dog highlight the text in-between the arrows.

----->The dog can be found fighting Hagravens in Orphan Rock after you have started the Blessings of Nature quest<-----

Other Follower Mods: I don't suggest using this mod alongside other follower mods, but if you insist, make sure to load this esp after any other follower mods.

Follower Overhauls (UFO, EFF, etc): The only follower overhaul this has been tested with is UFO. During testing with UFO I did not experience any issues (but that's not to say there won't be any). Just make sure to load this mod after UFO or any other overhauls.

Immersive Horses: Using this mod alongside Immersive Horses may cause your keybindings for that mod to stop working. To fix this just simply rebind them to the same key.

NMM/Mod Organizer

1. Download and install the mod files. (If it asks you to overwrite a file called UILIB_1 say NO)
2. Make sure the esp is as close to the bottom of your load order as possible.

Manual Install

1. Download and extract the mod files.
2. Copy everything from the folder with the esp in it to your Skyrim data folder. (If it asks you to overwrite a file called UILIB_1 say NO)
2. Make sure the esp is as close to the bottom of your load order as possible.

Re-Texture Tutorial
To re-texture the dog simply copy the Dog.dds file from any re-texture mod you want to use to the textures/BDF/dog/ folder inside your Skyrim directory. (Mod Organizer users would find this folder inside the mods folder in your Mod Organizer Directory)

Uninstall

Main: Simply remove the mod files from your game.

BDF Death Hound: In the Mod Configuration Menu check the disable scripts option, then save and uninstall normally.

BDF Death Hound

1. Sometimes when first installing the mod, or becoming a vampire the new spell will not be given to the player.
Fix: FIRST go into the Mod Configuration Menu, check and un-check the disable scripts option. After a minute or two out of any menus the spell should be given to you. If you still don't get it THEN use the add spell option.

2. Sometimes when the dog first becomes a Death Hound you won't be able select any of the dialogue options.
Fix: Save and reload your game.

v1.2: Removed the sound files from the dialogue that sounded weird.

v1.1.0: Made it possible to re-texture only the dog added by this mod, and made it so you can only call the dog while it's following you instead of anytime even when the dog is dismissed.

v1.0.0: First release.
