About this mod

RobZom's Dwarven blasters are beautiful pieces of work. However, they had very basic functionality. This mod tries to make the blasters actually elemental.

Description:

RobZom's Dwarven Blasters are so amazing.  When I saw them, I was floored.  I thought they looked like some of the best "rifle" weapons ever made for Skyrim.  However, I was a bit disappointed to learn that these blasters functioned identically, short of just having different special effects visually.  And there's no hate there.  I love the mod.  But it inspired me to crack my knuckles and learn about the Creation Kit.  Something I didn't think I'd ever do.  So thank you, RobZom for inspiring me to learn something instead of sitting on my ass.  This mod will give you a version of RobZom's blasters that have different properties to the original.  So it is safe to run both mods at the same time.  You can have RobZom's version for pummeling the crap out of your enemies and my version, which gives you the effects.

What this mod does is make the blasters behave as elemental machines of war.  It makes the blasters use elemental damage instead of physical damage like the original mod.  To take note on that one.  The blasters are MEANT to do 0 damage physically.  That also includes the ammo.  It's MEANT to.  However, in my testing, my archery skill still gave the blasters some physical damage.  Yet, I see no immediate problem with this.  The physical damage was low enough to not really matter for the design.  So the weapons do ELEMENTAL damage to compensate and that damage is also slightly tactical as well.  I wanted each blaster and each ammo to have a reason to use them and to have different advantages and disadvantages.  However, if you just want to do some pretty good medium damage, use steel or dwarven bolts or Hell, use one of those mods that creates different tiers of bolts and crossbows and use something like... dragonbone bolts.  At least then you get the native enchanted effects of the blasters, but still have some pretty decent dealing damaging bolts if you're into that kind of thing.

This mod also makes the blasters a bit more integrated into the actual game.  Now instead of just having the dwarven perk, you have to do some questing for the Dawnguard to unlock Dwarven Crossbows and make them at the Dawnguard forge.  You must also need Ancient Knowledge from the Unfathomable Depths quest found in the Riften Docks with that lizard lady.  Once you've quested that much, you can forge the blasters and the ammo at the Dawngaurd forge.  Again, as far as I can tell, you can ONLY craft crossbow weapons at the forge in Fort Dawnguard.

The Weapons
____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Plasma Rifle:  This rifle now does slight shock damage.  However, the look of it looks more like green energy instead of lighting.

Plasma Cells: Extremely fast round with a chance to stagger.  Does plasma colored shock damage.

Improved Plasma Cells:  Mid range round with a chance to paralyze.

Deadly Plasma Cells:  Very slow round.  BFG.  Nuff said.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Flamethrower:  This rifle now does slight fire damage.

Napalm: Low damage round, but makes enemies run away.

Improved Napalm:  Pretty good fire damage, but REALLY short range.  Almost melee range short

Deadly Napalm:  Highly explosive.  Does lots of fire damage.  Stay a good distance back from the explosion or get knocked on your ass.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Cryoblaster:  This rifle does slight ice damage.  This blaster is made for those that are stealthy.

Cryogen:  An icy shard that can disarm and slow your foes

Improved Cryogen:  Fire into a room to fill it with enough cold force to freeze even your enemies feelings to the oncoming danger.  This ammo calms enemies to open them up to much more deadly backstab attacks or making your retreat easier.

Deadly Cryogen:  A massive blast of ice and frost damage.  Medium speed projectile.

Issues of balance:  I can't say if these will be viable in your game.  I can't say if they will be over powered in your game.  I use YASH and it seems like a matter of whatever your enemies are resistant to.  Sometimes I can drop enemies like flies and sometimes they can overwhelm me.  So experiences may vary.

Some things I wish I could have done was beyond my understanding.  I wanted for example, the cryoblaster to fortify bashing by giving the player the perks needed when wielding the weapon.  I couldn't figure out how to do that.  I also wanted the ammo that calms the enemy to make them calm for a duration of time and THEN explode into an icy mess after the fact, but I couldn't figure out how to delay the ice damage without making the ice damage happen at the same time as the calm effect.  I also wanted Deadly Cryogen to actually cast the Blizzard spell.  Again, no idea how I can do that.  So that sort of thing is going to have to be up to more... learned minds of the creation kit.  What this mod contains is basically the product of 30 or more hours tinkering around with the CK and trying to come up with stuff that I haven't seen before as far as ammo goes.  Stuff that I could imagine being cool seemed to be beyond my own creative skills with the editor.

Recommended/nearly essential mods:

Not exactly required, but I love to watch my enemies be reduced to cinders with the flamethrower or their bodies become blocks of ice that can be shattered into a gory mess.
