Permissions and credits
Description:
Inspired by other mods of the same type and drawing a lot on Breakdown convert and craft SoulGems by Qwertymaster, this mod allows crafting Soul Gems at any smeltery, as well as rupturing them into Soul Gem Fragments at any forge.

Compatibility:
This mod consists purely of recipes. No world edits, no scripts, nothing else. As such, it is most likely compatible with every mod in existence. Only another mod which contains recipes with the exact same name as the ones I use would be incompatible. As such, load order does not matter in the slightest.

Installing:
Put the .esp in your Data folder, or install it with a mod manager.

Uninstalling:
Delete the .esp, or uninstall using a mod manager.

"Lore": (In quotes because it's more of a "this makes sense to me" or "because I said so" thing than actual canon)
With enough heat, two Soul Gems will fuse together, forming one Soul Gem of greater power. It is even possible to mend broken Soul Gems this way- if one has all the pieces.

By smelting a flawless gem with Fire Salts, the magic properties of the salts will be infused into the gem, resulting in a Soul Gem. The gem must be perfectly formed in order to successfully house the magics that allow it to contain a soul, however.

By the same process, a Black Gem may be created by infusing a Grand Soul Gem with Void Salts or Daedra Hearts. These items provide the dark energies required to warp a Soul Gem into one that can contain the soul of a human. A Flawless Diamond may also be used with the help of Fire Salts.

A Note on Soul Gem Fragments:
There are 5 types of Soul Gem Fragment in the game. To somewhat prevent cluttering up the crafting menu without making world edits or the like, there's a crafting recipe to convert each type into type 1 in increments of 1,10 and 50.

Crafting:
Petty Soul Gem
3 Soul Gem Fragments type 1
1 Flawless Garnet + 1 Fire Salts

Lesser Soul Gem
2 Petty Soul Gems
1 Flawless Amethyst + 1 Fire Salts

Common Soul Gem
2 Lesser Soul Gems
1 Flawless Ruby + 1 Fire Salts

Greater Soul Gem
2 Common Soul Gems
1 Flawless Sapphire + 1 Fire Salts

Grand Soul Gem
2 Greater Soul Gems
1 Flawless Emerald + 1 Fire Salts

Black Soul Gem
1 Grand Soul Gem + 2 Void Salts
1 Grand Soul Gem + 1 Daedra Heart
1 Flawless Diamond + 1 Fire Salts + 2 Void Salts
1 Flawless Diamond + 1 Fire Salts + 1 Daedra Heart

Rupturing:
Rupturing soul gems always breaks down into the type 1 fragment. If the gem isn't filled (Greater Soul in Greater Soul Gem, etc.) there is a 33% loss. In other words, rupturing 3 unfilled gems of a certain kind gives you enough fragments to make 2 gems of that type. (3 Petty -> 6 fragments -> 2 Petty)

(A "Grand Soul Gem" with a Grand Soul trapped in it (ID# 0002E4FC) is not the same thing as a "Grand Soul Gem (Grand)" (ID# 0002E4FF) even though they look exactly alike in game. There are mods that will automagically replace the former with the latter, in part to fix the Soul Gem dropping bug. I strongly suggest you get one of them.)

Black Soul Gem (Black) - 48 Soul Gem Fragments
Black Soul Gem - 32 Soul Gem Fragments

Grand Soul Gem (Grand) - 48 Soul Gem Fragments
Grand Soul Gem - 32 Soul Gem Fragments

Greater Soul Gem (Greater) - 24 Soul Gem Fragments
Greater Soul Gem - 16 Soul Gem Fragments

Common Soul Gem (Common) -> 12 Soul Gem Fragments
Common Soul Gem -> 8 Soul Gem Fragments

Lesser Soul Gem (Lesser) -> 6 Soul Gem Fragments
Lesser Soul Gem -> 4 Soul Gem Fragments

Petty Soul Gem (Petty) -> 3 Soul Gem Fragments
Petty Soul Gem -> 2 Soul Gem Fragments

Conclusion:
Use it or don't as you wish.

If you like it, thank you. I don't personally care if this gets endorsed, but endorsing does make it more likely that other people who may like it will see it, so, do it for them. :)

If you don't like it, I'm sorry. I know I can't please everybody, but it doesn't make me any less disappointed when it happens.

This isn't the only ancient mod I've made an update for! Check out this bad boy over here!:
Acquisitive Soul Gems Multithreaded

Off topic:
So far, I've quite enjoyed doing these mod updates- these mods are based on ancient ones that haven't been updated in years. Of course, I'm not just updating the mods, I'm also putting my own little spin on them- the originals were basically the closest thing to what I wanted that existed at the time, and there were some things I didn't like about them. So, during the updating, I change the things I didn't like, add my own flavour, so to speak.

Back to the point, I've decided I want to keep at it, so I'm taking requests. Is there any mod you use that's old, isn't being supported anymore, or that just doesn't behave like you want it to, by doing something you don't want it to, not doing something you do want it to, or doing something in a way you wish it didn't? Give me a yell, and I'll take a look at it.

One goal that I have with everything I do is to make everything as minimally impactful as possible- no world edits if I can avoid them, as few dependencies as possible, no need for compatibility patches for other mods, and so on. I can't guarantee this will always be the case, but I'll do everything I can to make it happen.

Next up on the list- Automatic Looting - my own spin on KACE Auto Loot / Auto Harvest, combining the best features of both into a mod that isn't cheaty as all get out. First step is getting a working auto loot chest like KACE has- which may be difficult, since KACE never included the source to his scripts, so I have to start from scratch.
