Ever been walking around, picking flowers, and wondered why you're never having to brush bees aside? Ever gone to Goldenglow Estate, and wondered where the hell all the bees went?!? Ever needed bees, honeycomb, or bee husks, but just couldn't find any? Ever worried about whether Colony Collapse Disorder has come to Skyrim? Well, wonder no more, because now there are finally bees in Skyrim! Rather than the paltry 22 beehives and 13 spawn activators in vanilla, there are now 73 beehives and 146 spawn activators, scattered wherever it would be logical for bees to gather (aka, wherever flowers are and snow isn't).

There are now a lot of bees around Riverwood, a good number around Riften, a ton at Goldenglow, and more scattered throughout Tamriel (and other worldspaces - I've added bees and hives to Whiterun, Riften, Solitude, Markath, the Eldergleam Sanctuary, etc). This mod was designed with Skyrim Flora Overhaul in mind, so if you don't have that you might get some bees in places where there aren't flowers. Most of the hives are actually in tree stumps/logs rather than up in trees, or under the eaves/walkway/stairs of a building. I've also added some flowers at Goldenglow, to make putting bees on the other islands logical. Every bee spawning point is associated with a hive and vice-versa, though since bees can be pretty far ranging they're not always close by! Most hives have one or two spawn activators near them, though some have as many as five.

This shouldn't conflict with anything. The worse that'll happen is you'll have bees landing weird places, clipping problems with the hives, or hives floating in midair. If you're also using 101BugsHD with the "increased spawn rate" plug-in, Goldenglow and the Eldergleam Sanctuary might end up with way too many insects; there's a few areas with a particularly high number of flowers that have ended up with as many as forty spread out over a few cells. This'll minorly conflict with many landscape, overhaul, and flora mods that move or remove logs, tree stumps, and trees (causing the aforementioned floating hive problem)

Potential problems: spawn activators in areas you're not supposed to access outside of a quest don't seem to activate right away. So for instance Goldenglow and cities with an opening scene didn't have bees (I toggled collision off to get into Goldenglow; Solitude only lacked bees when I used Alternate Start to start with Proudspire Manor, leaving the city and reentering fixed this problem).

Enjoyed this mod? Then help save the bees! Buying honey from local beekeepers is a great way to support small hives, which are less affected by CCD and are being out-competed by commercial hives. You can also plant a bee-garden (even a very small one in window boxes helps!).

Recommended mods:
Jacks Bees Estate (improves meshes and textures of hives and honeycomb)
Better Bee Hive - Get That Honey and Brew Alcohol (hives drop more honeycomb, you can use honeycomb for more)
Shorter Cell Respawns (so the hives and bees will respawn more often)
83Willows 101BugsHD (adds more butterflies, moths, dragonflies, etc, and retextures vanilla insects - including bees. The "increased spawn rate" was used in screenshots, as you can probably tell results in a fuckton of bees)
Skyrim Flora Overhaul
Critter Fixes Fixes collision problems

Also: OH GOD BEES is similar to this mod, also adds HD textures (was done to fill same request). You should be able to use these two (mine and theirs) together.

Future plans: bees in more areas, those artificial bee hives (blanking on what they're called) on larger farms (many farms actually either contract w/ beekeepers or have their own hive to pollinate the crops), compatibility patches for major flora mods that remove trees
