The Ruins of Rkund

~ Requirements ~

  • Skyrim Version 1.9.32.0.8 (Latest Patch)
  • The core version does not require any DLC
  • From version 1.10 onwards Dawnguard and Dragonborn are required

~ Installation ~
  • Download Archive
  • Install with the mod manager of your choosing or extract the .7z archive into your Skyrim/Data directory
  • Sort load-order with LOOT (ideally below Morrowloot; superficial)
  • Make sure all required files are selected (BOTH .esp files)
  • Do not clean these files. They have already been cleaned

Update Instructions:

  • Thanks to the Ruins of Rkund.esp Master File you will always be able to update immediately, cleanly, and safely
  • Download the archive located in the Updates section and make sure to overwrite any files you're prompted to (or simply download the latest Main File if you don't care about the data usage)
  • The "Ruins of Rkund v1.10" file in the Updates section will update you from any prior version of the mod
  • Any users who downloaded the v1.03 sequential update need to uninstall that so that no scripts from that archive are in their data folder (because they weren't packaged inside a bsa)
  • It would be best to make a save outside of the premises to help prevent it occurring during any of Rkund's scripts (like the sorting script for example) but this is not a requirement, just a healthy precaution
  • DO NOT make a "Clean Save". Use your existing save

~ Mod Description & Features ~

Rkund is a cozy medium-sized Dwemer-themed purchasable hideout set amidst the Ruins of Rkund (vanilla Landmark location) south-west of Riften.

First and foremost Rkund has been constructed to our tastes and specifications, we hope that others will also find this enjoyable.
The purchasing of Rkund will cost 1000 gold/player-level, this ensures a hefty gold sink at any stage of a play-through and may be done so via the Public Notice near the front door. Players need more stuff to spend their gold on ;)
Now, what do you get for all that coin?

The hideout features:

  • Automatic sorting & crafting automatic looting linked storage containers
Spoiler:
Show
All auto-sorting containers have been denoted with " * " asterisk tags to be easily identifiable. Eg. " *Heavy Armor* ", " *Soul Gems* ", " *Books* ", etc.
Every single container inside Rkund is 100% safe. You don't even have to worry when updating versions, all your loot will be completely safe thanks to our masterfile.
All Rkund crafting benches automatically grant access to their relevant crafting supplies' storage. (You will have access to all your stored Soul Gems whilst Enchanting, Ingredients whilst making potions, Leathers whilst at the Tanning Rack, etc)
What about content from official DLC's or your favorite mods? I'm glad you asked, this is the best part! If you activate an auto-sorting container whilst sneaking you will bring up a configuration menu. This menu allows you to integrate literally any content into the auto-sorting system in whatever way you see fit! You are even able to overhaul the default sorting rules this way if they aren't to your liking.
Should you need additional categories we've added in 9 surplus containers for this express purpose, though you will have to change the container names in the CK yourself (unless you're happy with Extra 01, Extra 02, etc). If this feature is popular enough we may explore in-game renaming in the future.
We also understand that it might take users some time to get familiar with the auto-sorting system and where everything is located. In case you're having trouble finding something we've provided an index of every sorting destination in the Service Hall.

  • Sorting Override - redefine the sorting rules in-game in any way you see fit and/or add support for any mod-added items! (see spoiler above)
  • Fully equipped crafting stations
  • Constructible Dwemer Automatons to patrol the premises and protect your demesne from interlopers (requires knowledge of advanced Smithing techniques)
  • Steam-powered mechanical elevator
  • Unique Dragon Claw Display
  • Unique Dragon Priest Mask Display
  • Unique Daedric Artifact Display
  • Unique Legendary Artifact Display
  • All Unique displays are fully integrated into the auto-sorting system. If you auto-sort a Dragon Priest Mask it will automatically show up on its display
  • 3 Elder Scroll Storage bays
  • 38 Performance-friendly custom Mannequins with optional player-clone variant
  • 54 Universal Weapon Displays
  • Custom Circlet, Potion, Soul Gem, Jewellery, Shield, Dagger, and Jar Displays. These rely on collision so you may have to stand at a distance for some of them to work as intended
  • Character-named Personal Stash
  • Bookshelves for 96 books
  • Service Hall complete with auto-sort index and in-house merchant
  • Override cleaner: Used to remove override sorting rules from specific items and reset them to their default rules. This is better & faster than giving said items an override for their default sorting location but only on the extremely technical level. Use the cleaner if you want a quick way to restore a large quantity of items to their default sorting rules

~ Important Information ~
AUTO-SORTING:
  • Execution time of the sorting script is non-trivial. When sorting vast quantities of items we suggest patience and minimal interference. An inventory weight of ~2500 took around ~6 seconds on my machine (over 1000 items)

AUTO-LOOTING:
  • All crafting benches feature automatic looting for their associated crafting supplies. The looted materials are automatically re-sorted at the terminus of each crafting session. Please be advised, you may experience delays if the sorting system to has re-sort a very high volume of materials
  • Automatic looting can be turned on/off at any time using the control button located near the Key Holder in the main hallway (Default: ON)

SERVICE HALL:
  • The Service Hall needs to reset otherwise the vendor would never replenish their inventory or barter gold
  • All of the containers inside the Service Hall are 100% safe to store items in, your stuff will never get reset with the rest of the cell
  • This does mean that you cannot safely drop items on the floor of the Service Hall. They will eventually get removed
  • Complaints that you have unintentionally lost items this way will fall on deaf ears

~ Compatibility ~

  • Every feature of this mod is self-contained and has been designed from the ground up with maximum compatibility in mind
  • Automatically compatible with Simple Taxes (Home ownership statistic is properly incremented)
  • Very minor conflict with Morrowloot, just ensure Ruins of Rkund - Update.esp is loaded after Morrowloot.esp. I use Morrowloot myself and carefully planned for this with Antares before creating the mod (Ruins of Rkund needs navmesh priority in 1 exterior cell if you want followers to access Rkund)
  • Static Mesh Improvement Mod (SMIM) causes an area of the alchemy station to appear incorrectly. There is a "Table Fixer" button nearby which should remedy any issues. Please submit a report if this is not the case for you

~ Known Issues ~

  • Sorting an item removes ownership information "laundering" any stolen property. This is a shortcoming of the scripting engine which I don't believe has been overcome yet. Perhaps SKSE holds some solutions but that's not something we are prepared to explore at this stage. Ultimately it is up to the user if they wish to exploit this
  • Very rarely it's possible an item will get incorrectly sorted. A few factors can contribute to this, but it shouldn't happen unless you have heavy script load. Simply allow the item to be re-sorted and it will be fine. If your framerate is low I expect you will be more susceptible since Papyrus is tied to framerate
  • Attempting to change cells (any load screen) whilst the sorting script is active can sometimes result in a CTD. This is an unavoidable engine limitation where the items we still need to perform tasks on are getting flushed out of memory. The CTD occurs when the script tries to affect an item that it can no longer find. The solution is to simply wait for the sorting to complete (it's pretty fast). This should only ever be an issue if you need to sort literally thousand's of varied items/types or if your FPS is super low (papyrus execution is tied to framerate)
  • To retrieve Circlets placed on busts you need to use the "tcl" console command. This was done to prevent their physics bugging out. I am looking into a better solution
  • Staff Enchanter grants too much experience. A common problem with any staff enchanting that uses a new base object. Will be fixed in the next update, and pending SSE port (Added 25th September 2020, Update & Port coming soon™)
