Runescar Short Introduction:

Runescar is a WIP mod that aims to be a small island and quest line focused on mage gameplay.  So far this mod adds four new smaller quests and changes to the College of Winterhold, A mostly complete town on the new island, new spells, items and unique NPCs and enemies totaling so far, about 2-3 hours of gameplay.

The island of Runescar is a work in progress, however what Is more complete are the changes to the College of Winterhold. As of version 1.1 there are four working quests received from one of the new NPCs in the college of Winterhold. A fifth quest that allows you to unlock travel to Runescar via a teleporter in the college. The college has a remodeled Midden area with five new unique NPCs, an improved courtyard once you finish the fourth quest, and a couple new spells laying around. Once your on the island there is once city and two locations that are populated with enemies, and a third incomplete one.

Version 2.0:
This version requires all DLC (Dawnguard, Dragonborn, Hearthfires, and the Update).
Overhauls the first dungeon, (roughly 2 - 3 times the size).
Overhauls most of the main dialogue so far.
More landscape to Runescar, but still unfinished
New features in the mages sanctuary including
converting soul gems to either higher or lower levels,
some craftable scrolls, with a full list of scrolls coming soon.

Some new enemy types and a couple of bosses. Most enemies will be added later as navmeshing all of the landscape is a tactic devised by the devil.


Version 1.3:
This version also requires Dawnguard, Dragonborn, and the update.
Overall improvements to the mod including landscape detail, interior detail of the sanctuary.
A few new NPCs roaming around. 
Some more enemies around the island and improvements in some of the dialogue.
A few new types of ingredients and plants.
A unique boss enemy in the Canyon's Gate location, but not yet linked to a quest.

Version 1.2:
New version requires both Dawnguard and Dragonborn DLC.
Players should be able to complete the fifth quest.
Some of the Unique NPCs should have more dialogue.
A completely working scene for the forth quest.
Some more NPC Dialogue.

Details:

  • To start the quests, look for a new dremora NPC in the Collegeof Winterhold. Go to the hall of countenance, first floor, first room on the left, or just look around.
  • These quests add changes to the college as you complete them, such as.


  • A completely remodeled Midden, making it, believe it or not a nice livable area with 5 new mage NPCs including a merchant, and a couple non unique sentinel NPCs.
  • When you install this mod, the Midden will be locked until the start of the third quest, (skeletons in the closet).



  • Two smaller new dungeons in Skyrim for two of the quests.


  • New spells, with original effects that can be either found or unlocked by completing some of the quests. With more to come in later updates.
  • New types of enemies, with relatively high difficulty,(about levels 40 and up). 
  • The island has one mostly complete city with about 15 - 20 unique NPCs, not including the mage sentinels.
  • The island has a couple of locations outside of the city with enemies, about level 40 and up.

    Runescar mod is a workin progress, some problems include:
    Some problems to expect are mainly due to incomplete or content.  First I understand that the dungeons and exterior areas need more clutter and detail. Hopefully I can learn to use clutter more after adding a few more dungeons.

    The NPCs so far are not voice acted, so you will need subtitles enabled. Also the NPCs don’t have many dialogue
    topics yet; hopefully this will be one of the next things that I add more of when I have the time.

    One annoyance is that currently there is no LOD for the island of Runescar. This is not a bug, I simply don’t want to mess with that kind of voodoo before I’m done with more of the island. I tried it twice now, and lessons were thoroughly, painfully learned. 
     
    In version 1.0 there is an issue with the boss to the first quest in the wayward shrine, some projectiles will pass right through him if not hit in the right spot, however he is still beatable. 

    One last problem to mention is the scene that starts after returning to the second dungeon. You are supposed to watch
    a spell be cast by one of the new NPCs in the courtyard of the College of Winterhold. The problem is that you may have to wait about 30 seconds for the quest to end after the conversation. I’m not sure how to fix this.
