About this mod

A high definition (2k resolution) re-texture of the grass floor texture. Created to accurately resemble the style of the vanilla texture while greatly improving quality.

Permissions and credits
This mod replaces Skyrim’s grass floor texture with a higher quality 2k (2048 x 2048) resolution texture. Unlike some other texture mods, the aim of this mod is to provide a texture which accurately resembles the look and style of the vanilla texture.

Install using Nexus Mod Manager or by placing the files in their respective folders in Skyrim/Data.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

Texture resolution -
2048 x 2048, 1024 x 1024 for normal map (uncompressed at half resolution produces more accurate results)
Files modified:

       Textures - /landscape/ fieldgrass02.dds, fieldgrass02_n.dds, fieldgrass02_p.dds (added)
       Meshes - /landscape/dirtcliffs/ dirtcliffs01.nif, dirtcliffs02.nif, dirtcliffs03.nif, dirtcliffs05.nif, dirtcliffsanimalden02.nif, dirtcliffscornerin01.nif,
       dirtcliffscornerout01.nif, dirtcliffsisland01.nif

COMPATIBILITY

This mod only replaces two textures and a few meshes which incorporate that texture (in order to enable parallax in some areas). Thus the mod is compatible with any mod that does not replace these files. In the case that you have a mod that replaces the same files, this mod has to be installed over it for it to have any effect.

PARALLAX

This mod incorporates a subtle parallax texture to provide the illusion of slight changes in elevation. For the parallax effect to work ENB v0.265 is required and FixParallaxTerrain in enblocal.ini under [FIX] must be set to true. However, parallax is not necessary for the mod to work and its effect for this texture is only very subtle in any case.

If you do not wish to use parallax you can now download the "No Parallax" version.

CREATION

This texture was created in a 3d application by scattering grass blade models across a plane in accordance to density and length inferred from the vanilla texture. This means that the texture could be made tileable without the need for editing in a photo-editing program, reducing repetitive features and blurriness. Also, a digital render doesn’t contain the blurring or distortion as a photograph might contain.

CHANGELOG

v 1.1 - normal map flipped for more accurate texture appearance
v 1.0 - original file released
