About this mod

Lets you craft deer pelts for leather, smelt that dwemer scrap, craft soul gems, and a few other things.

Permissions and credits
For the longest of times I couldnt find a mod that fixed one of the most annoying things... how those deer pelts you find in the game cant be turned into leather at a tanning rack. You know, the deer PELTS, not deer HIDES that you get from actually killing a deer. For the longest of times I simply tried ignoring them and just pawning them off as merchant garbage because I couldnt do anything else with them. Well, I finally got off my butt and did something about it. This is a fairly simple mod that started off with just that in mind, but I expanded it slightly to do a few other things. Today I'm sharing it with anyone else who wants it, but I'll list the changes I made here.

~Misc~
-Dragon Bones now weigh 5, used to be 10.
-Dragon Scales now weigh 3, used to be 7.
-Firewood now weighs 1, used to be 5.
-Linen Wraps now weigh 0.2, used to be 3. Really a small roll of cloth should not weigh more than most full sets of clothing...
-Rolls of Paper now weigh 0.1, used to be 1. Paper should not weigh as much as whole books IMO.
-Charcoal now weighs 0.5, used to be to 0.1. And I changed the 'other' charcoal to "Charcoal Chunk", chunk weighs 0.5 used to be 1.
-Can create 12 lockpicks from 1 iron ingot in the misc category, requires novice lockpicking perk. I chose 12 because you can craft 24 arrowheads for the same amount with dawnguard. I chose iron because they break rather easy normally and look like they're made from iron.
-Wood Axes [and the unique vanilla ones] weigh 5, used to be 10.
-Pick Axes [and the unique vanilla ones] weigh 5, used to be 10.
-Can craft wood axes and pickaxes from 1 firewood and 2 steel, they're located in the steel category though they don't require the steel smithing perk.
-Can improve wood axes and pickaxes at a grindstone using steel, they should also now gain bonuses from the steel smithing perk.
-Can create a longbow with 1 firewood, located in the wood category. I considered more firewood since I lowered it's weight, then decided not to. *shrug*
-Can create a hunting bow with 1 firewood and 2 leather straps, located in the wood category. I had to change the material from steel to wood however, so it may not receive bonuses from the steel perk anymore... which probably makes sense.

~Leather~
-Can craft deer pelts at a leather rack to get 2 leather, same as a deer hide.
-Leather weighs 0.5 instead of 1. It bugged me that sometimes Id somehow gain weight after making leather. Plus, now I can carry twice as much of it. :)
-Crafting leather strips now gives you 5 instead of 4, which matches the new weight of leather.

~Ingots~
-All ingots now also weigh 0.5 instead of 1, also ore weighs 0.6.
-All dwemer scrap metal [not bowls, pans, etc] can be smelted into dwarven ingots.
-Heavier dwemer scrap was reduced in weight by half, rounded down. For instance solid dwemer metal weighed 25, now it weighs 12.
-Large Dwemer Plate metal now weighs more than small versions. Weighs 4, used to be 2.
-Dwemer Levers now weigh more than small version. Weighs 4, used to be 2.
-The amount of dwarven ingots you can craft now matches the weight of the scrap. For example solid dwemer metal weighs 12, each ingot weighs 0.5 so you get 24 ingots.
-Can craft steel from ingots, 2 iron ingots + 1 corundum ingot makes 2 steel bars. Same as if you would have used 2 iron ore and 2 corundum ores.
-Added the option to craft 10 ingots at a time for all smelter options, should lessen the amount of clicking people have to do~

~Soul gems~ *Requires the arcane smithing perk*
-Can break soul gems into fragments at an anvil/forge, at the cost of a bit of waste in the process. [1 less fragment than its worth to craft]
-All junk soul gem fragments can now be smelted to make an empty petty soul gem.
-2 empty petty gems can be smelted to make an empty lesser gem
-3 empty petty gems can be smelted to make an empty common gem.
-4 empty petty gems can be smelted to make an empty greater gem.
-5 empty petty gems can be smelted to make an empty grand gem.
-If you combine an empty grand gem with bone meal you can make an empty black gem. I considered human hearts but they're too rare...
-If you collect one of each different type of gem fragment you can turn all five into an empty black gem.
-Black Gem weight changed to match the grand gem. Was 1, is now 0.5.
`Note, I based these numbers on their individual weights. I chose 1 for 1 with the fragments because they weighed the same as petty gems. The same for how many petty gems it took to make a larger gem. This was also the other reason I chose to reduce the weight of the black gem. Plus, it kind of looks to me like if you put all the different pieces together normally they'd make a black gem.

~Name Changes~
I use better sorting, so to make this work with better sorting I changed all the names of the ingots and soul gems. Dwarven Ingot became Ingot - Dwarven, Ebony Ingot became Ingot - Ebony and so on. Petty Soul Gem became Soul Gem - Petty and so on. I also renamed all dwemer scraps to Dwemer Scrap - "name" for better sorting.

<3 Mog's Notes <3

I hope others enjoy this mod <3 Its my first mod, so it should just be an ESP. Hah, I really have no idea what I'm doing since I've never uploaded anything before but I hope everything works. If you liked this mod and it works then please let me know. And, it is possible I might have forgot to mention a few things, but Im fairly sure I listed everything this mod does. I suggest loading this at the end of your load order if you have other mods that might alter the weights of items if you want my changes to take precedence.

Otherwise, I wish I knew how to make my own categories in the smelter menu that way I could separate the soul gems into their own area. I was considering expanding the list so 2 lesser gems might make a greater gem, or a lesser and a petty might make a common. But I wanted to avoid spamming the menu making it huge. Soul gems for me however are nicely located on the bottom. Still I dont know how to script, and I wanted a way to make those soul gems and the ability to turn that dwemer junk into ingots and use those pelts on the leather racks. So, now I can. :)

About 1.2
I haven't messed with dwemer and silver dish wares yet... I think that might add too much unnecessary clutter to the smelting menu which would be more work than its worth even in the game. I'm interested to hear feedback on that or not, if people tell me they want it I'll include it. I also looked up how to make custom categories but apparently we as a "community" are limited to just a few extras... so I decided not to mess with that either in fear of messing up the bigger mods and making incompatibilities or what not since I dont know enough about what I'm doing and who all is using what. Id also have liked to make breaking soul gems give you random fragments but it seems you can only get 1 item from crafting, even though we can use multiple items to craft one object we cant turn one object into multiple objects. Still I didn't want to keep delaying what I have worked on so far because of these things I couldn't quite figure out on my own, I'd probably need some help from someone who knows how to script for some of it.

~Updates~

V1.1 That was quick, ikr? Anyway decided to add a bit more conveniences and other such stuff I figured out.
Added an extra recipe for steel ingots, that's always bugged me too. Also added the option to craft 10 ingots at a time for convenience.
Can craft woodaxes and pickaxes under steel category, should also benefit from steel smithing perk [I think] even though they don't require it to craft.
Can craft longbows and hunting bows under wood category and should not benefit from smithing perks.
Can craft lockpicks under misc category with the novice lockpicking perk.
Added the arcane smithing requirement to create soul gems.

V1.11 Apparently I uploaded the wrong file, very sorry about that. At least I caught it right away. *phew*
Also changed the weight of dragon bone to 5 [was 10] and dragon scale to 3 [was 7]

V1.2  Renamed all scrap to Dwemer Scrap - name to sort better.
Lowered weight of charcoal from 0.5 to 0.1
Changed the 'other' charcoal to "Charcoal Chunk", change weight from 1 to 0.5
Can break soul gems into fragments at a forge, at the cost of a bit of waste in the process.
