noun

1. a volatile pungent oil distilled from gum turpentine or pine wood, used in mixing paints and varnishes and in liniment.

2. A unique and performance friendly ENB distilled from Peyote or Jamba Juice, used in mixing colors  and composition and in rituals to Sheogorath

Turpentine ENB is Skyrim on a canvas. It is heavily inspired by the cel shaded aesthetic, as seen from games such as Okami, Killer 7, and Wind Waker.

Requirements

ENBSeries v0.264

Place d3d9.dll and enbhost.exe in your Skyrim folder

Caveats and Compatibilities

  • Turpentine ENB was designed with SCO Tropical Edition in mind. For those curious, you can find it on Aceeq's website here. However, it is by no means a requirement. Turpentine will still offer you ethereal vibrance with an offbeat palette, should you choose to do your adventuring over the mountains or under the pines.

  • ELFX recommended, but once again you are free to choose.

Important!

  • In order for this preset to produce its watercolor effect, it applies an additional shader from the SweetFX suite. Although this shader will visually enhance your landscape, certain fonts and smaller text will also appear slightly more faint. There are two ways to circumvent this issue:

  • 1. Choose a new font. Preferably a bigger font with a reasonably thick typeface. This will reduce the faintness effect upon the letters. After experimenting with several, I've conceded that Celtic font is the most functional. You also may want to consider this for your dialogue menu's. In dialoguemenu.cfg, the Viking font with a size of 26-30 seems to keep the text looking legible and crisp. If you use SkyUI , be sure to set font size to large in the MCM.

  • 2. Should the problem still peeve you, it shall behoove you to go to SweetFX_settings.txt and look for #define CartoonEdgeSlope. Raise that value to your liking. 2.0 seems to effectively minimize the faint text issue, but you will lose the watercolor effect!
