About this mod

Fifth Generation Mage is a mod that allows you to play a strict mage class without cross classing in Legendary. I have made a second mod specifically for difficulties less than Legendary, or if you want more challenge on Legendary.

I made this mod because I felt that magic was too weak to play on Legendary.  I have made a second mod specifically for difficulties less than Legendary, or if you want more challenge on Legendary.

====

Fifth Generation Mage allows you to roleplay as if you came from a long line of mages and already had extensive experience with magic.
When your parents were killed by the Thalmor as dissidents, they sent you with their heirloom tomes and gear to Skyrim so that you could study at the College of Winterhold, the only place people can study magick free from the tyranny of the Thalmor.
When you were abducted and taken to Helgen, General Tullius consigned an Imperial Soldier to place all of your belongings in the Warden's chest inside the Helgen Barracks. So make sure you make it into the barracks and collect your gear. (More information, possible spoilers)

== WORK IN PROGRESS, NOT FEATURE COMPLETE ==

This is a WIP and I'm adding features all of the time. When you see there's an update, update it if you want to see the latest features.

== Features ==
Implements Spectral Arrow as a destruction spell. It's just as quiet as the popular mod, but not as potent. It's potent enough, however. Just not enough to be insta-kill of virtually any target.
Implements a more powerful Bound Bow. It's more expensive to use, but the bow lasts a LOT longer, and it does more damange. Crit damage is through the roof. Feature still WIP.
Greater Fireball. This is intended for when you get bored with the Master Level spells. Warning: Your followers and innocents WILL DIE. I'm just saying. Be prepared to have a bounty on your head unless you use surgical precision. Even then, you'll get in trouble. Keep it far away from Goldenglow Estates.

== Requirements ==
None. It works with vanilla Skyrim and any DLC.

== Compatibility ==
It works with any DLC. It works with any mod as long as it doesn't change Bound Bow or the default implementation of Spectral Arrow. Mods that create new Bound Bows or Spectral Arrows will work. Also will not work with any mod that overwrites the Warden's Chest in Helgen. Place this mod last if you wish its items to show up. I have yet to discover how to make mods play friendly with each other in this regard.

== Requests? ==
If it's within my power to do, and you think it would make for a better experience as a strict mage type, I will try it. Just comment below.

== Side Note ==
I enjoy playing on Legendary with added difficulty. But even on Adept, Mages just don't scale well. You always wind up having to level marksman and sneak in order to survive long enough to get your magic up. That's probably because I'm not playing this game like a WOW leveller, I'm playing this game as an RPG with character motivations, etc. When you try to play based on what your character would do, being a mage kinda sucks in Skyrim. So I wanted to level the playing field so that you could (a) get out of Helgen alive, (b) Survive Bleak Falls Barrow, and (c) earn the name of Dragonborn as a strict type mage.

== Revision History ==
0.012alpha - Fixed bug where you couldn't see bound swords and battleaxes. Oops, my bad.
0.011alpha - Added bound battleaxe and bound sword. Allows for greater flexibility in play style.
0.010alpha - Made the damage of the spells/artifacts scale with your levels of destruction, now compatible with Alternate Start - Live A New Life. Originally made this for Legendary characters, but now it's more balanced and should work well across difficulty levels.
0.009alpha - I got lazy in updating this. Fixed Greater Fireball so it actually hurts enemeis lawl. I think the Shalidor's stuff is functional, but not in final state yet. Still a long way to go. Please, give comments. I like comments. Squirrel!
0.005alpha - While Mage Armor is vastly superior to the various armor boosting spells in the game, it won't negate the need to develop your sneak skill.  You can get hit a couple of times and not die, which is a serious improvement. However, because you need to stick to the shadows, I've included a Night Vision ring in the chest in Helgen. If you don't have it, get it.
0.004alpha - Fixed bound bow bugginess. Improved balance by (a) making bound bow actually more powerful than spectral arrow, (b) backing off the power of the enchanted ring so it doesn't get insanely OP so quickly.
0.003alpha - Improved Mage Armor spell. Added gear to help you survive following Ralof into Helgen Keep.
0.002alpha - Fixed CTD bug with Greater Fireball
0.001alpha - Fixed bug where Greater Fireball isn't in Warden's chest
0.000alpha - Initial release

== About The Version System ==
I'm using a versioning system that is based on software development versioning systems.
Alpha - feature incomplete
Beta - mostly feature complete
RC (Release Candidates) - feature complete, working out bugs
FC (Final Candidate) - feature complete, undergoing extensive testing
Golden Master - What I consider a feature complete shipping product
Only then can it be considered a 1.0

== Future Plans ==
Gameplay videos. Keep in mind, I don't have a beefy system.
Fully flesh out storyline where player is lost heir to Shalidor
Quests and NPC's. I have to learn have to do that first.
Time Ring: Having the ability to slow things down with a bow is really handy, especially when fighting a group of vampires intermixed with townsfolk. You don't want to hit the wrong person. Well, I don't. However, Time Ring Negative (what I currently use) is just too broken. I'm thinking maybe about doing one that drains a small amount of health, magicka, and stamina so that there is a real reason not to abuse it. I would welcome feedback in the comments.
I'm thinking about making some custom gear that has backstab, muffle, and fortify sneak in one, another that has fortify destruction, restoration, and alteration in another, and one maybe for speech, lockingpicking, and pickpocket. Again, comments welcome.

== Recommended Mods ==
I think the Witchplate mod would work very well with this one, especially since Mage Armor removes the heavy and light armor restrictions.
If you're going to be a sneak mage, Realistic Lighting Overhaul is awesome, as it gives you more cover of darkness. That's pretty much why I created my own Night Vision Ring was to fully make use of that. For a sneak mage, using RLO, it's a necessity.
ENB is freaking amazing. I have a laptop with 4GB of RAM and 256MB discrete video, and I can play 1024x768 and it looks amazing using ENB, along with some optimized textures and a mod to better use occultion planes.
