About this mod

A handful of vampire themed spells to mimic the fire, frost and shock lines of spells.

Note

It may be a very long time before I work on this again, if I do at all. If you're interested in picking up where I left off, I'd gladly hand the job over to someone who can accomplish what I might not be able to. Send me a message if you'd like to discuss something like that involving either the destruction spell pack, the restoration spell pack, or both (I had always intended to combine them eventually after all).

Summary

I've always found myself disappointed with the way you get Vampiric Drain, balanced around Flames, Frostbite and Sparks, and then that's it. The train stopped there and I'm not quite feeling the options I've seen and tried here for filling in the gaps for that. This mod aims to fill in the gaps in Destruction for vampiric spells. Right now there are six working spells. To use them, after installing the mod you will have to use the console's player.addspell command or purchase the newer spell tomes at appropriate vendors. Since the first digits of the spells' form IDs will vary from user to user, you'll want to search for at least one of them with "help" (help "Vampiric Bolt" for example), and use the first two digits you see there in place of the Xs for the following:

An apprentice level spell, comparable to Firebolt, Ice Spike, and Lightning Bolt: Vampiric Bolt - XX000D66

An apprentice level spell, comparable to Fire Rune, Frost Rune, Shock Rune: Vampiric Rune - XX004348

An adept level spell, comparable to Fireball, Ice Storm, and Chain Lightning: Vampiric Blast - XX0022F1

An adept level spell, comparable to Flame cloak, Frost Cloak, and Lightning Cloak: Vampiric Cloak - XX03887C

An expert level spell, comparable to Incinerate, Icy Spear, and Thunderbolt: Vampiric Spear - XX01365A

A master level spell, comparable to Fire Storm, Blizzard, and Lightning Storm: Vampiric Wave - XX002DB9

Required

Dawnguard. Originally I didn't need Dawnguard for this, but all the best visual stuff for vampire magic is in Dawnguard. The mod is about vampires, there's just too many assets I can use in my mod that come from that DLC.

Updates

2/2/2016: Some of my plans for the future are too complicated for me to handle any time soon, so I'll instead be pushing the merge with my restoration spells and the final bugfixes for what's more or less completed. This will be a new mod, making the two separate ones unsupported. A link will be added when the new version is available.
7/29/2015: I started tracking what I'm working on in a stickied post, so you can comment suggestions on changes I'm testing before I release them
7/26/2015 v1.3: Spell tomes added to Ronthil in Volkihar Keep and Sybille Stentor in Solitude (only temporarily on her)
7/23/2015 v1.2: Vampiric Cloak should show up properly in Destruction spell inventory now when added.
7/21/2015 v1.1: Fixed Vampiric Wave spell, it now properly causes a rather nasty explosion. Added two more spells, Vampiric Rune and Vampiric Cloak.

Recommended Mods

- Better Vampires*
- Empowered Magic**

*I would suggest loading Better Vampires after my spells if you use both. In the event of a conflict being introduced at some point in my development, you'll want to winner to be Better Vampires. It is far bigger and more complicated, so losing a conflict could cause some pretty bad side effects.

**If you'd like to make my spells work without my optional file, open the Creation Kit. Find Empowered Magic, and set it as the active file. Let that load up everything, and then in the Object Window look under Actor for Perk. Find DestructionNovice00 and right click it, selecting edit. At the bottom of the new window look for Mod Spell Magnitude in Perk Entries. Right click, edit that. The Spell tab under conditions will have three entries for keywords. Right click, duplicate one of them and then double click your duplicate. Change whichever MagicDamage keyword it was using to MagicVampireDrain. This is the keyword the original Vampiric Drain spell uses, and the keyword all of mine use. This is actually different from how my optional file works, because I have yet to receive permission to use Empowered Magic's assets in my patch.
