FOR PURE WEATHER 2.1/2.2

USERS OF PURE WEATHER 1.9
AND AOS 2.2 PLEASE USE THE PATCH
HERE IN OPTIONAL DOWNLOADS

DESCRIPTION

This is a very small .esp plugin that provides compatibility between:

Although an earlier version of my Pure Weather + AOS 2 patch is included in the AOS 2 v2.1 installer download, it only works with Pure Weather v1.3-1.5, and an updated patch won't be included until the next release of AOS 2, expected in some while.

REQUIREMENTS

This patch requires either the Realism or Brighter Nights Edition of Pure Weather Legendary v2.0 and of course Audio Overhaul for Skyrim 2 v2.1 to work. It also requires both the official Bethesda Dawnguard and Dragonborn DLCs.

Therefore, for this patch to work, you must have the following plugins active in your load order:

  • Dawnguard.esm
  • Dragonborn.esm
  • AOS.esp
  • Pureweather.esp

If any of the above are missing from your load order, when started, Skyrim will crash at the main menu.

For this patch to work properly, it must load after both AOS.esp and Pureweather.esp, which is true regardless of whether you use BOSS or LOOT to sort your plugin load order.

INSTALLING / UNINSTALLING

It is a single tiny .esp plugin, so installation is easy. Either download, install and activate in your favorite mod manager, or if installing manually, copy Pureweather_AOS2 Patch.esp from the .zip archive download into your .../skyrim/data directory. Make sure it's active in you load order, and that you've fulfilled all the REQUIREMENTS as explained above. Then you're good to go!

To uninstall, simply deactivate the plugin, and remove the mod from your mod manager and/or delete Pureweather_AOS2 Patch.esp from your .../skyrim/data directory. Theoretically, no harm should come at all to your save game if you stop using this patch in the middle of a playthrough.

COMPATIBILITY

This patch makes changes to one weather type, and a number of Skyrim's regions, consisting of lists of weathers from Pure Weather combined with ambient sound lists from AOS 2.

So, any mod which makes weather changes will not be compatible. Incompatible weather mods include Climates of Tamriel, RCRN, and ELFX / RLO's weather modules, among others.

Similarly, this patch will not be compatible with any mod which makes changes to ambient sound lists for Skyrim's different regions. This likely includes some or all of the three Sounds of Skyrim modules.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Q: Skyrim crashes when I start it up! What do I do??!
A: Make sure you have all of the plugins loaded that are listed in the REQUIREMENTS section, above.

Q: I don't have Dawnguard and/or Dragonborn! Can you make another patch for Skyrim-only??!
A: When a non-DLC version of Pure Weather 2.0 is released, I will add a non-DLC patch here.

CREDIT & THANKS

All credit and many thanks goes to the authors of the two mods, Laast and Lord KoRn. Without them and their gracious sharing of the product of their many hours of work, the need for this patch would not exist.

Thanks also to ElminsterAU, Hlp, Zilav, Sharlikran, Arthmoor and everyone else who has worked on and contributed to the development of the amazingly useful and efficient TES5Edit application. If not for TES5Edit, creating compatibility patches for Skyrim mods would still be an arcane art, slow but sure and with a steeper learning curve in Creation Kit.

And of course, thanks to Bethesda for creating a game which has for better or worse sucked so many countless hours of real life from hundreds of thousands of people.
