Requirements
Permissions and credits
After popular demand, I decided to upload Smithing Redesigned - Legendary from the Steam Workshop to Nexus. The mod was created by Owlburgers and me to improve the experience of the smithing perk tree, and to give people better choices for end-game armor than just Dragonplate and Dragonscale.
It requires Dawnguard and Dragonborn.

Smithing Tree Changes

The Smithing perk tree has been considerably revamped to allow for separate progression into light and heavy armors:

  • Added a level before Elven Smithing, called Wildling Smiting, which allows to create Forsworn-like weapons and armors using Leather and Sabre Cat Teeth
  • Advanced Armors has been renamed to Guild Smithing and allows creation of Thief and Assassin armors, as well as Lightweaver swords and shields. Nordic Carved Armor and Weapons are also still available under Guild Leathers. Hardened Leather is required, which is crafted with Troll Fat and Leather.
  • Orcish Smithing has been renamed to Old War Smithing, and now unlocks both Orcish and Steel Plate armor and weapons.
  • Added a level between Elven and Glass Smithing, called Nordic Leather, which allows to craft a lookalike of the Stormcloak Officer Armor.
  • Arcane Blacksmith is now accessible via either Guild Leathers or Old War Smithing. It allows you also to craft Staves and, at Smithing Level 100, create Magicka Weapons.
  • Added Master Light Smithing as conclusion of the Light Armor side.
  • Added Master Heavy Smithing as conclusion of the Heavy Armor side.
  • Added Cloth Weaving as isolated, entry-level Perk that allows to create Clothes.

New Master-level Amors and Weapons

Upon unlocking Master Light Armors resp. Master Heavy Armors, you get access to several new sets of armor and weapons, all with the stats of the equipment unlocked by Dragon Smithing.
Light armors will require Dragon Leather to be crafted, which can be created at any Tanning Rack with Dragon Scales and Chaurus Eggs. To craft the items, you will not only need ingots/leather, but also small amount of rarer ingredients, analogous to the Daedra Hearts needed for Daedric Armor.
All items can be tempered, and will work with the Matching Set perks of the Light and Heavy Armor trees.

Staff Crafting

Once you unlock the Arcane Blacksmith perk, aspiring mages will be able to craft their own Staves at every forge, using Ingots, Leather Strips and an unfilled Grand Soul Gem. However, to enchant them with effects, one needs to use Neloth's Staff enchanter.
The Staves added this way are powerful, and thus require five Heartstones to enchant. They have 4000 charges and a multitude of effects, as well as a unique appearance.

However, not everyone can craft Staves! You need additional knowledge for each Staff to be able to craft and enchant them.

  • Nirn Staff: Unlocked once you reach Master Light Armor Smithing.
  • Dwemer Staff: Unlocked once you reach Master Heavy Armor Smithing.
  • Infinium Staff: Unlocked after completing the Dragonborn questline.
  • Falmer Staff: Unlocked after completing Touching the Sky in the Dawnguard questline.
  • Priest Staff: Unlocked after the Master Restoration Ritual.
  • Ruin Staff: Unlocked after the Master Destruction Ritual.
  • Blight Staff: Unlocked after the Master Alteration Ritual.
  • Mind Staff: Unlocked after the Master Illusion Ritual.
  • Daedric Staff: Unlocked after the Master Conjuration Ritual.
