About this mod

Adds a Sun Damage enchantment to the game based on Dawnguard weapons. The enchantment is similar to the fire, frost, and shock damage enchantments in the vanilla game. There are 3 versions that you can choose from depending on your preference. Requires Dawnguard!

If you're like me, you always hated that the Dawnguard's weapons weren't able to be disenchanted. That's not what this mod does. It does however, do something similar. By taking just the damage aspect of the enchantment used on many weapons added by the Dawnguard DLC, I have made a playable sun damage enchantment. There are three versions. Version 1 does damage only to undead enemies, but it has a lot of charges to make up for it. Version 2 does damage to all enemies and does triple damage to undead, but has less charges than frost enchanted weapons. Version 3 has more changes than before, but mostly minor changes. It was built from version 2 and so it is more similar to that one. Undead will receive double damage instead of triple damage and weapons now has 33% more charges than they did in version 2. Weapons that can be found with the enchantment now only do half as much damage as they did before, so as to match vanilla enchantments. As well, there are now 6 levels of enchantments that can be found on weapons, each doing 5 points more of damage than the one below it. This was also done to match vanilla enchantments. Version 3 also adds more consistency throughout the weapons you may find, though it is unlikely you will notice the chances that were made for this purpose. Weapons with these enchantments can be found just about anywhere you can find other enchanted weapons. This means in dungeon chest, at shops, on the corpses of your enemies, and other places. I based almost everything on fire-enchanted weapons, so anywhere you've found a fire-enchanted weapon before, you should be able to find sun-enchanted weapons as well.

There are six levels to the enchantment that can be found. A * represents the weapon name. Yellow text represents V3.
10|5 Points of Damage - Shimmering *
20|10 Points of Damage - Glowing *
30|15 Points of Damage - * of Light
40|20 Points of Damage - * of the Sun
50|25 Points of Damage - * of Vampire's Bane
30 Points of Damage - * of Meridia's Light

If you would like to spawn a weapon just to test it out (or just to cheat) you can type help "weapon prefix/suffix" 4 into the console and use the pgup and pgdn buttons to cycle through all of the text until you find an ID that corresponds to one of the weapons. Then you can type player.additem ID Quantity into the console to add the item to your inventory.

Requires the latest version of Skyrim along with the Dawnguard DLC. No other mods are necessary, nor are the Dragonborn or Hearthfires DLC. This mod uses assets from the Dawnguard DLC which legally cannot be redistributed. These assets are not included in the mod download, but rather will be loaded from the Dawnguard DLC itself, should it be present in your Skyrim directory. This mod cannot run without the Dawnguard DLC. No version will be made to circumvent the need to have the Dawnguard DLC installed.

All content in this mod is newly created based on the content previously available in the Dawnguard DLC. Should you install any mods that alter content in the Dawnguard DLC, such as the enchantments on the Dawnguard Weapons, the contents of this mod will not be affected.

Mods that alter the meshes or textures of vanilla Skyrim weapons, including Dawnbreaker, without the use of a plugin (.esp) file will change the meshes and textures of the related weapons in this mod, but will not affect the enchantments placed on them.

If you use the optional file, place it under any mod that alters Dawnbreaker and under the main file. The Dawnbreaker addon only changes the fire damage enchantment, so any mods that change other aspects should still work.

If any third-party mods alter the contents of this mod than they will have to be installed after any files relating to this mod. Installing these files before installing this mod may result in unforeseeable bugs, errors, or glitches. Installing these files before installing this mod may cause any new features to be absent from your game.

Alters Dawnbreaker to use a sun enchantment instead of a fire enchantment. In version 1, sun damage only affects undead, has more charges, and has different visual effects. In version 2, sun damage does triple damage to undead, has less charges, and has the same visual changes.

The Boosted Artifacts Addon changes all of the enchantments on weapons in the game that can be considered "Artifacts", whether Daedric or from some other powerful source, to have unlimited charges. This includes weapons such as the Staff of Magnus, Auriel's Bow, and many others throughout the vanilla game and the Dawnguard and Dragonborn DLCs. This addon alters content from the Dragonborn DLC, and as such, it is an additional requirement should you choose to use it. Version 3 has the Dawnbreaker Addon built into it and as such requires version 3 of the main file to be installed.
