Light and fluffy like its name, Marshmallow was born from my desire to create an ENB config for Skyrim that addresses most of the key issues with its default post-processing while also coming with a negligible performance impact. Using the stripped-down v0.108 binary, I have managed to do so to the best of my abilities, netting a loss of no more than 2-3 frames on average.

What do you get with Marshmallow? Well, here's a few highlights:

  • Rebalanced brightness and contrast.
  • Warmer color tones.
  • A moderate saturation boost.
  • Filmic tone mapping based on the Naughty Dog implementation.
  • A restrained amount of high quality bloom.
  • Subtle vignetting.
  • Complete removal of eye adaptation.
  • Functioning Night Eye without any reliance on vanilla post-processing.
  • Highly documented files for end user tweaking.

1. Copy the appropriate d3d9.dll from the ENBSeries v0.108 TrueHDR download to your Skyrim directory. (typically from the 'wrapper' folder)
2. Copy the contents of the Marshmallow ENB archive into the Skyrim directory, as well.
3. Insure that these values in the skyrimpref.ini are set as such:

  • fGamma=1.0000
  • bFloatPointRenderTarget=1

4. Play!

Compatibility and Recommended Mods:

I do not support Climates of Tamriel; it's near-impossible to calibrate for without the weather system added in later binaries. That said, some users have reported good results when combined with Marshmallow and Climates of Tamriel - Weather Patch will help to some degree.

The mods listed below, though by no means necessary, are recommended for improved results.

Dramatic Clouds
Enhanced Lighting for ENB - interior image spaces, weathers and sky mesh only!
Enhanced Lights and FX or Relighting Skyrim
Ultimate HD Fire Effects
Wearable Lanterns

Final Notes:

Thank you for taking the time to try out my config! Also a thank you to JawZ for his help and support on this config.

Do keep in mind that I'm hardly an expert at this so it's entirely possible that a number of things can continued to be improved. On that note, feedback is highly encouraged.
