I would like to share a little mod that I cooked up for myself at first, but I thought I may share it as well.
This little mod adds 10 silent tracks (1 to 10 minutes long) to explore, dungeon and town playlists. All it means that you may not get music for quite some time with allows you to enjoy the atmosphere of the place you are in.
I got this idea when playing Dark Souls with had music only for bosses and select few locations. It had great effect on the experience for me, so I thought I may try to do something similar in Skyrim. Now background music becomes a treat you will notice.
WARNING!
This mod may actually detract from your enjoyment of Skyrim. It should be coupled with the following mods:
- Audio Overhaul for Skyrim - this one is vital for enjoying my mod due to great and varied footsteps sounds, as well as improvement for ambiance sounds
- Reverb and Sound - I suggest this one as it makes footsteps actually loud enough to hear them
Other recommended mods, that are not necessary, but add a lot to experience:
- Delarics Conditional Combat Music - This is my personal recommendation, this mod disables combat music for generic low danger enemies and keeps it for bosses and though opponents.
- Sounds of Skyrim - The Wilds - Great mod that makes silence in woods a great experience.
- Sounds of Skyrim - Civilization - Makes cities a bit more alive with additional ambient sounds.
- Sounds of Skyrim - The Dungeons - Makes dungeons even more creepy
Now if only someone made a nice mod that adds PC breathing sounds it would be perfect...
Anyway, there may be small issue with my mod: I may have added to many silent tracks with may keep the music away for too long for some people. Let me know what do you think in the comments. Also report any bugs you may find.
