This mod adds a new crafting recipe allowing you to make steel from iron and corundum ingots.
As this is a new recipe, you can still craft using the old one and use the ore directly. It is balanced so you get the same amount of ingots per ore using either recipe, but it does mean that you won't accidentally screw yourself over by making corundum/iron ingots.
Also see Steel from coal which adds charcoal to the game and allows you to craft steel using that instead of corundum!
