About this mod

Divides the smithing skill between weapons and armor instead of heavy and light.

Permissions and credits
This mod reorganizes the vanilla smithing perks so that all weapon recipes are learned from the left side of the tree and all armor recipes are learned from the right side of the tree. The branches also provide improvement bonuses to weapons/armor without regard to material. As an added bonus, this change fixes all issues where certain improvable weapons and armor didn't have an associated perk for bonus to tempering.

Version 1.2 now requires the Unofficial Skryim Patch

LIST OF CHANGES - Vanilla Version

Weaponsmithing Tree:

Apprentice Smithing (Steel Smithing) grants access to steel weapon and armor recipes. No longer
provides a bonus to tempering.

Journeyman Weaponsmithing (Elven Smithing) allows crafting Orcish Weapons (level 30) and Dwarven Weapons (level 40). It also provides a 25% improvement bonus to ALL weapons.

Adept Weaponsmithing (Advanced Armor) allows crafting of Elven (level 50) and Skyforge Steel
(level 60 + quest) weapons. Provides a 50% improvement bonus to ALL weapons.

Master Weaponsmithing (Glass Smithing) allows crafting of Glass (level 70), Ebony (level 80), and
Daedric (level 90) weapons. Provides a 75% improvement bonus to ALL weapons.

Grandmaster Weaponsmithing (Dragon Armor) provides a 100% bonus to ALL weapons.

Armorsmithing Tree:

Apprentice Smithing (Steel Smithing) - same as above.

Journeyman Armorsmithing (Dwarven smithing) allows crafting of Dwarven (lvl 30) and Elven (lvl 30)
armor. It also provides a 25% improvement bonus to ALL armor.

Adept Armorsmithing (Orcish Smithing) allows crafting of Steel Plated (lvl 50), Scaled (lvl 50), Elven Gilded (lvl 60) and Orcish (lvl 60) armor. Provides a 50% improvement bonus to ALL armor.

Master Armorsmithing (Ebony Smithing) allows crafting of Glass (level 70) and Ebony (level 80)
armor. Provides a 75% improvement bonus to ALL armor.

Grandmaster Armorsmithing (Daedric Smithing) allows crafting of Daedric, Dragonscale and Dragonplate armor. Provides a 100% improvement bonus to ALL armor.

ADDITIONAL CHANGES - Vanilla Improved Version

Studded Armor now requires level 20 smithing OR the Apprentice Smithing Perk. Leather/Banded Iron Armor now require level 25 smithing OR the Apprentice Smithing Perk.

Jewelry recipes (other than the base silver ring) now have level requirements up to level 60.

Visual changes to perk tree to more closely resemble an anvil.

ADDITIONAL CHANGES - Improved with Menu Version

This version is integrated with my Smithing Menu - Weapons and Armor mod, which reorganizes the crafting menu at forges.

Compatibility

This mod changes vanilla smithing perks and vanilla weapons and armor recipes and is NOT compatible with any mod that changes those files.

This mod is compatible with mods that make changes to in-game weapons and armor, such as Weapon and Armor Fixes - Remade.

This mod is compatible with mods that add non-craftable weapons and armor to vendor and loot lists. It is partially compatible with mods that add new recipes. Specifically, new weapons and armor will be improved in accordance with the perks of this mod, but the crafting requirements for new weapons/armor will ignore the changes I've made (e.g., a mod adding light armor that requires the "Advanced Armor" perk will receive tempering bonuses from the armor smithing branch but will required Adept Weaponsmithing to craft).

Future Plans
Add in missing weapon/armor recipes.

Build in compatibility for popular mods that add weapon/armor crafting recipes (feel free to make suggestions)

Any other cool ideas people suggest.

Parting Words
Thanks to kryptopyr whose Smithing Perks Overhaul - Remade and Updated mod provided the inspiration for mine. If his New Perk trees didn't require DLC, I might not have been motivated to do this myself.
