About this mod

A subtle alteration to the physical appearance of some of Skyrim\'s NPCs aiming to increase immersion by better matching their looks to their backstories or reducing general oddities and discrepancies.

Permissions and credits
Ever think that Faendal looked a little too old to be chasing after Camilla? Or that Nurelion looked a little too young to be on death's door? Maybe you thought that Derkeethus looks more like a Derpeethus?! If so, then this mod might be your thing. Some NPCs have been made to look better (facelift), some have been made to look worse ("facedrop"), but all of those selected for this mod have, in my opinion, been made to feel more natural.

Description:

With this careful selection of edited NPCs I tried to increase world immersion and make certain characters more believable by matching their look to the context of their presence in-game. That or edit out little discrepancies in their appearance to make them feel more natural while still keeping the feel of Vanilla Skyrim and it's character designs.

Some of the changes might not even be particularly noticeable and some of these NPCs may never even cross your mind or make you pause while traversing Tamriel's icy north but many of the little changes I have made are things that have bugged me about some of the characters for a long time and in some cases (eg. Adriane) these are characters who most of us see in-game very regularly. So, despite making this to soothe my own anal personality, I thought I'd share the changes I have made so far in case anyone else noticed some of the stuff I did and liked the changes I have made.

Below is a full list of characters edited:

Followers:

Faendal - Made to look younger, a more equally-matched rival for Sven and less like a cradle-snatcher for seeking the affections of Camilla!

Derkeethus - Given less goofy eyes, less ramb-like horns and some head-feathers.

Aranea Ienith - Given less strikingly un-Dunmer hair-colour and style and made a little "prettier" (on a subjective level). (Not 'vital' but still changes I wanted to make.)

Non-followers:
Nurelion - Now looks older and more frail (and [SPOILERS] more likely to die at the end of his quest chain).

Corpulus - Has been changed to actually look older than his son and more likely to be his biological dad.

Adrianne Avenicci - Made to look less bronzed (closer to her father's skin tone and more like someone whose been raised in Skyrim) but still sooty from working as a 'smith.

Hreinn - Made to look younger and less mature (now looks less like a man in his mid 30s being scolded for not doing his chores!).

Wujeeta - General de-scarifying makeover (more like a cool raptor-lady you want to help kick an addiction and less like a scary anaconda with limbs!).

Camilla Valerius - Made to look more humble (less trampy makeup) and perhaps "prettier" while still looking like she is related to Lucan.

Eltrys - Replaced overly suspicious Forsworn tattoos with typical Breton (Reach Native) face-paint.

Package 2 (WIP) NPCs:

Annekke Crag-Jumper - (Follower) Given lighter, more 'Nord-like' skin-tone and less extravagant makeup to better represent her background and her boisterous craving for adventure and "bounding".

I am also open to suggestions should anyone have any ideas for NPCs they feel need a bit of a makeover and they like my style for it so far.

N.B. The followers who I have given a physical makeover to (Aranea, Faendal, Derkeethus) have also had a slight internal/inventory redesign as well. Each of them are equipped with simple Vanilla equipment which I feel suits their characters (Faendal now wears hide armour as his standard outfit), each of their level-caps have been removed and Faendal and Derkeethus have both had a couple of perks added to their combat skills ('Ranger' for drawn-bow running and a couple of increased 'Agile Defender' and 'Overdrawn' bonuses) in order to better equip them to perform the roll they are intended to perform.
This does not conflict with Awesome Follower Tweaks but I am unsure whether or not these minor changes might conflict with other follower mods.

All of the non-follower edited NPCs should be compatible with all mods and require nothing extra.

Requirements:

As stated above, with the follower specific NPC edits, there is a possibility it may conflict with some follower altering mods, though I doubt it going by it's compatibility with the AFT mod.

If you are using the UFO mod, please download the UFO patch for this mod, provided by sharrken, found under the 'Main File' download section.

Known Issues:

Currently: Argonian head-horns may appear slightly paler than those typically used in combination with Derkeethus or Wujeeta's scale complexion. I believe this is due to the NPC Editor's not syncing up horn changes with skin changes. It hopefully shouldn't be too noticeable in-game and you hopefully fine the edits made are still an improvement on their vanilla counterparts.

If people encounter any other problems, I encourage them to let me know and I will try to amend any mistakes on my end.

Installation:

NMM: Select 'Download with NMM' and then activate the mod in the program.

Manual: Extract files and place the .esp and .bsa files in your Skyrim Data folder (typical path: Steam/steamapps/common/skyrim/Data).

Uninstallation:

NMM: Deactivate the mod in NMM.

Manual: Remove the .bsa and .esp files from your Data folder. Load Skyrim, make a new save, reload from that save and continue playing as normal.

Recommended Files:

Amazing Follower Tweaks (Allows you to make followers essential, change their combat style or spells, manage their equipment and do all kinds of cool stuff!)

Xenius' High Resolution Scars - Any scars featured on the NPCs I have altered use the XCE textures, but the mod is still fully compatible with Vanilla textures.

A big thank you to sharrken for helping to clean the files, provide UFO support and a proper NMM batch! (Please, send kudos his way if you get chance!) \o/
