Changelogs
PerkPointLess Smithing makes great changes to the smithing skill. You can no longer spend perk points in the smithing tree, you rather need to get your knowledge from various books added by this mod. While the books for the common kinds of armor (like Steel or Leather) are sold by many blacksmiths, more complex armor and weapon styles (like Dwarven or Ebony) are more difficult to find. Nearly all improvable items are now covered by a perk to give an improvement bonus (at the grindstone or workbench), and some items that were not craftable in the vanilla game can now be made once you know the proper perks. Perks can be learned even if the smithing skill is lower than the vanilla requirement, however, some perks require you to know a prevous perk. Most perk book apearances are leveled, so don't expect to run arround in a glass armor at level 1.

Detailed Information to material styles, alphabetical order (used vanilla perk in brackets):

Bonemold (-): Bonemold armor is a speciality of the Dunmer, and therefore its Perk Book is found on various locations of Dunmeric presence. Improved bonemold armor requires the respective quest to be complete as well as the perk to be craftable.

Chitin (-): The chitin armors are, like bonemold, a dunmeric tradition and the Perk Book may be found in their places.

Daedric (Daedric Smithing): The knowledge about the crafting of daedric armor and weapons is rare in Skyrim. It can only be found at some daedric shrines and requires knowledge on smithing ebony gear.

Dawnguard: If the Dawnguard Add-On is installed, you may craft the Dawnguard armors if you have sided with the Dawnguard during Bloodline. The Steel Smithing and Leather Smithing perks are required for both the light and the heavy variant.

Dragon (Dragon Armor): Dragon Smithing can currently only be found inside the Hall of Valor at the end of the main quest, and in Sky Haven Temple once reaching level 50.

Draugr Smithing (-): Draugr Smithing allows the crafting and tempering of ancient nord armor and -weapons, as well as ancient nord honed weapons (craftable at a Smithing skill of 30). It can be found inside draugr crypts.

Dwarven (Dwarven Smithing): Dwarven Smithing requires Steel Smithing, and can be found inside dwemer ruins.

Ebony (Ebony Smithing): Knowledge on smithing of ebony is rare in Skyrim, although more common in Morrowind. Perk books may be found on some places where dunmer refugees passed or stayed, once you've reached a higher level. The Ebony Smithing perk also improves the tempering of Nightingale gear.

Elven (Elven Smithing): The items often called "elven" are actually from the Altmer. Elven Smithing books can therefore be found on various Thalmor locations.

Falmer (-): The Falmer create armor and weapons of chaurus chitin. Their knowledge can be found inside the dwemer ruins taken over by them. Falmer Honed Weapons are craftable from a Smithing skill of 50 onwards.

Forsworn (-): Once completed "No One Escapes the Cidna Mine", you may craft the primitive gear of the forsworn.

Glass: (Glass Smithing): Glass is proceeded both by the altmer and the dunmer. It may at higher levels be found at locations of both of them.

Gold (-): Gold Smithing only covers the crafting of gold jewelry, and may be found at bandit camps and jewelry crafters.

Imperial: Imperial Gear can be crafted after taking the oath from General Tullius, if you have the proper perks (Steel Smithing or Leather Smithing)

Iron (-): The Iron Smithing book can be bought at most blacksmiths, as well as found as leveled loot at bandit camps. It covers the iron armor and weapons except the dagger (wich was left out because it is needed for the smithing tutorial). At a smithing skill of 16 (one skill increase), you may craft the banded iron cuirass and shield.

Leather (-): Leather Smithing, wich also can be found at blacksmiths and bandits, covers the tempering of Fur and Hide armor (wich are available for crafting even without the perk), as well as the crafting and tempering of studded armor (once you know Iron Smithing) and scaled armor (once you know Steel Smithing and have a Smithing skill of at least 50).

Orcish (Orcish Smithing): Working on Orichalcum is a speciality of the Orcs. Once you are blood-kin and therefore able to trade with the blacksmiths of the orcish strongholds, you may buy a copy of the Orcish Smithing perk book from them.

Silver (-): In addition to silver jewelry, Silver Smithing covers the silver weapons. Books can be found at bandit camps, jewelry merchants, and members of the Silver Hand.

Stalhrim (-): As Baldor Iron-Shaper said, forging stalhrim is simmilar to forging ebony, and therefore is covered entirely with that perk.

Steel (Steel Smithing): The Steel Smithing perk book can be bought at most blacksmiths and be found at bandit camps, and covers the steel, skyforge steel, steel plate, imperial heavy, blades, and wolf-armor and -weapons for tempering. It requires the Iron Smithing perk to be learned. Steel equipment can be crafted once you've learned the perk, steel plate at a smithing skill of 50. The Wolf Armor of the Companions is available once you've completed "Glory of the Dead".

Vampire Armor: Vampire Armor can be craftet with the Dawnguard Add-On after completing "Bloodline" on Vampire side if you have the Leather Smithing Perk.

Other Perks:

Arcane Blacksmith: There is a chance that the Arcane Blacksmith perk book is found instead of a soul gem.

Advanced Armors: This perk is not used in this mod, however, if you have any other mod that adds recipes depending on the Advanced Armors perk, you may buy the only available copy from Eorlund Grey-Mane. (Note: you need a Smithing skill level of 50 to learn Advaned Armors.)
