Description

Last updated at 22:41, 6 Nov 2013 Uploaded at 22:16, 10 Feb 2013

This modification started off as a config I used to tweak performance on a Dell Inspirion 15R N5110. I developed the config so that it allowed me to run the mods I liked without suffering a performance impact while increasing quality the game engine allowed. The modification now comes in two configurations, one prioritizing quality & the other prioritizing performance but neglects neither, vise versa.

Featuring:

Multisampled Anti-Aliasing
Transparency Anti-Aliasing
Anisotropic Filtering
Deferred Shadows
Depth of Field
Radial Blur
High Dynamic Range
Water Reflections
Shadows on World, Trees, Grass
Character Self-shadowing

Also feature's:
Multi-threading Optimization
Memory Optimization
Object Loading Optimization

I performed a comparison between built-in quality presets & my very own config, the comparison is as follows:

Skyrim Enhanced Shadow and Performance Improvement Config vs High Pre-set with [2x Anti-Aliasing, 16x Anisotropic Filtering]:

TESV Skyrim High Preset 2AA 16AF with Mods [Indoors]:

Note:
"Indoors" is an interior benchmark of Jorrvasker stood still with a view of the building and it's npc's during a boxing contest.
"Outdoors" is an exterior benchmark which includes 3rd person view running in a straight line on the path & river to the bridge at the waterfalls.

Installation:

Extract .rar contents directly into your "Skyrim" folder, eg. "C:Users'Your username'DocumentsMy GamesSkyrim" overwrite existing file, backup before hand is optional but not essential as deleting the file and restarting the game will create a new default config based on your hardware.

CTRL+F in notepad to find the line [- sD3DDevice="YOUR RENDER DEVICE HERE" -] and replace it with the graphics chip name from your "RendererInfo.txt" file ! Otherwise hardware detection will occur and you'll have to redo extraction.

For nVidia graphics use the following format, a space behind the graphics chip name otherwise defaults will be used
Example: sD3DDevice="NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M "

For ATi graphics use the following format, no spacing behind the graphics chip name otherwise defaults will be used
Example: sD3DDevice="AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series"
