Summer in Skyrim

----------------

~~DESCRIPTION~~

This texture mod changes the orange-leaved trees to green, gets rid of the leaves on the ground, and changes some shrub and grass colors. The mod mainly changes the look of the areas around Riften and Ivarstead, in other places the changes are very subtle. This mod only replaces textures, so you can still find mushrooms etc. even though it's summer.

The tree LODs are made by Xtudo and modified by me so that the orange tree LODs are now green. You can check out the original mod 'Trees LODs with shadows v1.3 by Xtudo' with standard colored trees here: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=194

It is possible to use this mod with HD ground texture mods. Read the installation instructions to find out how.

~~UPDATE DETAILS~~

1.0.1

Removed the falling aspen leaves.

~~KNOWN ISSUES~~

-There are still some dry shrubs and patches of dry grass. Changing them would make the tundra look different and I want to keep it as untouched as possible. I might fix the issue in the future, but for now let's just imagine it's been a rather dry summer in Skyrim.

If you find any bugs or have ideas how to make this mod better, just leave a comment!

~~INSTALLATION~~

----METHOD 1----

USE THIS METHOD ONLY IF YOU ARE NOT USING HD GROUND TEXTURES!

Make backups if necessary and extract the texture folder into Skyrim's data folder. Read the instructions about the LODs to decide which tree LOD version to use.

----METHOD 2----

USE THIS METHOD ONLY IF YOU ARE USING HD GROUND TEXTURES!

This method is more complicated but it allows you to keep the HD ground textures if you are using them.

STEP 1:

If you haven't already installed the HD texture mod, do it now. Take a look at what files will be overwritten and make backups if necessary. Then extract the textures folder into the data folder.

STEP 2:

Copy & paste the following HD texture files that are located in the landscape folder to make duplicates. You can just paste the copied files to the landscape folder itself or make a temporary folder, whichever way you like.

fieldgrass02
fieldgrass02_n
pineforest01
pineforest01_n
pineforest02
pineforest02_n
rocks01
rocks01_n

STEP 3:

Delete these files:

fallforestdirt01
fallforestdirt01_n
fallforestgrass01
fallforestgrass01_n
fallforestleaves01
fallforestleaves01_n
fallforestrocks01
fallforestrocks01_n

STEP 4:

Finally, rename the COPIED files like this, and move them to the landscape folder if they aren't there already:

fieldgrass02 (copy)-> fallforestgrass01
fieldgrass02_n (copy) -> fallforestgrass01_n
pineforest01 (copy)-> fallforestdirt01
pineforest01_n (copy) -> fallforestdirt01_n
pineforest02 (copy)-> fallforestleaves01
pineforest02_n (copy) -> fallforestleaves01_n
rocks01 (copy) -> fallforestrocks01
rocks01_n (copy)-> fallforestrocks01_n

That's it! Of course I can't guarantee it looks good with every possible ground texture mod. You just have to try it and see what it looks like.

~~UNINSTALLATION~~

Just remove the files. If you liked the tree LODs in this mod, you can download the similar textures with standard colored trees made by Xtudo. The link is below.

~~THE LODS~~

The mod uses the darker version of Xtudo's mod by default. If you want to make the LOD trees (the distant trees) lighter, open the 'Lighter tree LODs (optional)' folder and extract the terrain folder into the Skyrim's texture folder. You can also download both LODs separately.

To see which version suits you better, check out the instructions on Xtudo's mod page: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=194

The LODs look just fine even if you haven't enabled the tree shadows from SkyrimPrefs.ini. No need to worry about that.

Thanks to Xtudo who gave me the permission to modify his mod and distribute it with mine.

And of course hats off to Bethesda for making this great game!
