Overview
One day, I found Dawnguard gifted to me on Steam. I'm not a big vampire fan and wasn't really planning on getting it. Since I was given a copy (I'm not going to turn down a free gift), I figured the least I could do is use it to make sure my mods are compatible. However, before doing that I should at least play thru it once to get an idea of what's going on etc..
Not being a big vampire fan and having already heard stories of ruined quests because non-essential quest people were being killed, I was reluctant to include DG in my load order. I looked around at some options on the Nexus that try to address this but I didn't really like how they worked. So this was born.
What it does
Sets the global variable DLC1VQMinLevelVampireAttacks to 999
Blank quest with custom script on the player alias runs a 60 second real time update and checks for one of the following quest stages to be true:
DLC1VQMiscObjective 180 <-- This is the stage that ends the Dawnguard quest visually for the player
DLC1VQMiscObjective 250 <-- This is the actual end stage of the Dawnguard quest
DLC1VQ01 10 <-- This is the Awakening quest stage where the player agrees to start the Dawnguard questline. (Its possible to bypass the initial Dawnguard quest so this is included as a precaution)
When one of these quest stages is true, the global variable will be reset to the normal value of 8 thus allowing vampire attacks to proceed as normal.
This does not affect wilderness encounters that I can tell. In my last playthrough I encountered vampires wearing DG gear at various encounter zones. Beyond a doubt tho this prevents the in town attacks.
Installation
NMM or manual, just make sure that the ESP & BSA files are in the data directory
Uninstallation
NMM or manual, just make sure that the ESP & BSA files are removed from the data directory
Files
After installation you should have the following
Skyrim > Data > Isharas_PreventVampAttacksTillDGStart.esp
Skyrim > Data > Isharas_PreventVampAttacksTillDGStart.bsa
Skyrim > Data > Docs > ABIM > DawnguardNoVampireAttacks > ReadMe.txt
Additional Information
I'm satisfied with this version and it should be considered final.
