Requirements
Permissions and credits
Please Endorse of you like this mod! Also, please provide feedback on the recipes for scrolls, staves and robes in the comments section, I really need to know how balanced I'm making these. Also, I'd love to expand this mod further, so if you could give me some ideas on what to do that woul be great, although it needs to keep within the theme of crafting for mages

Edit (29/6/17): So ummm... it's been a while. Honestly I kind of got burnt out on skyrim for a while and stopped playing. But I started again recently an thought why the hell not make an update and do some of the changes I was meaning to when  I had just finished 1.6. I feel like I did all I could with Vanilla skyrim, so 1.7 instead has become a version that includes stuff from the Dragonborn DLC, with some small recipe tweaks along the way. In the following description, the stuff in red is the new stuff in version 1.7 that requires Dragonborn DLC.

Introduction

Mages didn't really get to choose what they wore if they went pure mage. They were stuck with what they got. Mages couldn't really change how they looked, while warriors and rogues could just head off to the forge and craft themselves an awesome looking piece of daedric armor or dragonscale armor once they got the perks. This mod changes that to make more things craftable for mages.

Description

This mod adds 4 new types of things to craft in skyrim: Clothing, soul gems, scrolls and Staves

Craftable robes

- You can now craft most robes and clothes at the tanning rack, as long as you have the right materials
-Most require leather and leather strips, but some of the nicer looking ones may also require pelts, salts and other ingredients.
-They can be crafted from the Tanning rack, found under 'clothing'
-Some robes that weren't playable before, such as Greybeard or Psiijic robes, are now playable and craftable.
- (Version 1.7) I have made unenchanted Cratfable versions of the Telvanni and Cultist Robes. The Enchanted Cultist Robes will be craftable as well but will require more components.
-For some robes, special requirements must be met before you can craft them. Here is a list:

  • Greybeard robes: complete the main quest
  • Psiijic Robes: Complete the College of Winterhold Quests
  • Arch-Mage robes: Become Arch mage at the college of winterhold
  • Dark Brotherhood Robes/ Dark Brotherhood Redguard robes: Join or Destroy the Dark Brotherhood
  • Nocturnal robes: Finish the thieves Guild Quests
  • Any Winterhold robes: Become a member of the college
  • The Alik'r Robes: Join or Destroy the Dark brotherhoold OR finish the Quest 'In my time of need'
  • Jarls Clothes: Finish the Civil war
  • Ulfric's clothes: Likewise
  • Emperors robes: Assassinate him at the end of the dark brotherhood questline
  • Mythic Dawn Robes: Finish Silus Vestus' quests at the Dawnstar Museum
  • Vaermina Robes: Finish the 'Waking Nightmare' Quest
  • Thalmor robes: Finish the quest 'Diplomatic Immunity'
  • Jester clothes: Finish the quest 'cure for madness'
  • Cultist robes: Finish the quest 'The Temple of Miraak' (version 1.7 requires DLC)
  • Temple Priest Robes: Finish the quest 'Clean Sweep' (version 1.7 requires DLC)
  • Telvanni Robes: Finish the quest 'Old Friends' (version 1.7 requires DLC)

UPDATE: You can Now craft circlets! Get the at the forge. All basic circlets are available for one ingot and 1-3 gems.

Soul Gem Crafting

-Soul gems can now be crafted at the smelter.
-For each level of soul gem (petty, lesser, common, greater, grand), two of the level before are required. However you can make grand soul gems out of petty soul gems if you have sixteen of them.
-Likewise, Soul gems can be melted back into small ones ( I dunno when you need that but I put it in in case) The smaller the soul gem you are making, the more you will receive.

UPDATE: Added the ability to make soul gems from soul gem fragments. As there are more than one type of soul gem fragment, I have made it so they can all be turned into refined soul gem fragments using the smelter. 4 of these can then be used to make a petty soul gem, and the rest is the same.

Scroll Crafting

-Yes, you can now craft certain scrolls! Most of them require a roll of paper, charcoal and certain ingredients. They can be made at the Skyforge. I know that most of you have sold or didnt bother picking up rolls of paper or charcoal (i know I didn't :P), so i made them crafable at the tanning rack and forge too. 1 firewood ---> 2 rolls of paper and 1 firewood --> 3 Charcoal
-These are not balanced as of yet. I need you to feed back on that for me, and tell me whats wrong with the recipes.
-As of version 1.4 all normal scrolls are now available to the player, and I plan on adding one or two that were missing from the vanilla game
-Due to a request, there are now two versions: skyforge and tanning rack. The name of the version determines where the scrolls can be crafted, I tihnk its self explanatory which is which :)

Craftable Staves

Finally, they're here! Staves are craftable from any forge and all require 5 firewood and 1 filled soul gem of some kind, as well as other ingredients depending on the staff. (most of the ingredients are based on how the staves look, and what I think would represent that accurately. All non special (so no daedra or named staves) are available to craft, although I am debating whether to add the special staves too. Feedback would be greatly appreciated on the ingredients.

Version 1.7: Since I last updated this, Dragonborn added Staff crafting via the Staff enchanting and honestly it's way better than my way. So, you can't craft specific staves anymore but I have made it so you can craft the Staff Templates (i.e.: the unenchanted destruction, alteration, etc. staves) via the forge. These all require firewood, gold, a filled greater soul gem and a flawless gem. I actually Have a version with the staff crafting still there, if people want it.

Changelog

Version 1.7
- Added Cultist Robes, Telvanni Robes, Temple priest robes and Dunmer Clothes at the Tanning rack (needs DLC)
- Most Staff crafting removed, have instead added the ability to make template staves for the staff enchanter
- A few random tweaks to recipes e.g.: Some of the hooded things now need a Linen wrap.

Version 1.6

-All Staves now craftable.
-Created two versions: one for crafting scrolls at the tanning rack and one for crafting them at the skyforge.

Version 1.5
-All staves up to adept level can be crafted now
-Changed the recipe of the staves I added last time to require lesser soul gems rather than common soul gems. (they still need to be filled)
-Added a transmute ore scroll with a crafting recipe.
-Put the Transmute and Dremora Lord Scroll in levelled lists.

Version 1.4
-All scrolls now available from all schools of magic (aside from the special ones like J'zargo scrolls)
-Added a Dremora Lord scroll because I felt it was missing :)
-Added 7 staves: Flames, Frostbite, Sparks, Courage, Familiar, Zombi, Fury

Version 1.3
-More scrolls Added!
-Destruction scrolls added: Fireball, ice storm, Chain Lightning, Flame Cloak, Frost Cloak, Lightning Cloak
-Conjuration scrolls added: Conjure Frost Atronach, Banish Daedra, Revenant
-Alteration scrolls added: Ironflesh
-Illusion scrolls added: Rally, Frenzy
-Restoration scrolls added: Turn Undead, Heal other
-NOTE: I know these updates are pretty slow now, and they don't really add too much to the game, but I don't exactly have a lot of free time now to actually work on this mod. I promise to try and give something bigger in the next update

Version 1.2
- Added Jester clothes, which i seemingly overlooked for both versions 1.0 and 1.1
-Changed the place to make scrolls to the skyforge. I did this because its a magical forge, so the scrolls should be made there rather than at a tanning rack. Scrolls are founder under 'MISC'
-Added new scrolls. All apprentice spell scrolls done apart from scroll of fear, which i am stumped on what ingredients to use
-All scrolls require charcoal now, which can be made at any forge from firewood. Found under 'MISC'
-Changed the recipe of a few scrolls. Some of the ingredients were stupid (im particularly thinking of using a torch for a magelight scroll here.) A lot of the scrolls now use an alchemy ingredient similar to the scroll's effect. For example, oakflesh uses thistle branches, which is used to fortify heavy armor.

Version 1.1
-Added craftable circlets
-Allowed soul gems to be made out of refined soul gem fragments, which are made from soul gem fragments
-Added some craftable scrolls (see above)

Installation

Notes and Credits

My credits go to:

  • Bethesda, for making skyrim and the creation kit.
  • Hothtrooper44, whose akaviri samurai armor and dragonhide robes are used in the images
  • Kaldaar for taking the time to make those really cool pictures of his character wearing some of the robes

In terms of Compatability, it should work with most mods, unless there is a mod that creates a new crafting material at the forge, where it may conflict.

Please fell free to tell me what to improve and what to balance, I shall act upon these if I think they are good suggestions. Please Endorse if you like this mod. I hope you Enjoy this mod. If anyone wants to translate this mod, then you have my permission to do so but ONLY on this site.
