About this mod

A high resolution night sky replacer with no noticable performance hit.

Permissions and credits

I would love to see some of your images using this if you would be kind enough, I try not to keep my graphics settings too high to favour performance but I know a lot of you can get some really cool visual settings especially with ENB mods and it would be nice to see this mod showcased with your settings so please feel free to take advantage of the user images for my page :)

Featured on LiveStyleGaming's Skyrim Mod of the Day : Episode 52 (it's the first mod showcased)

I have also released a version for Fallout New Vegas
NV version
You can also get a good look at the comparison colour tints on this page ;)

This mod works as a texture replacer for the night sky stars to give much greater detail and even can give the illusion of an animated twinkle effect (at least it does for me!). I have quite a few HiRes astral images courtesy of NASA's Hubble Telescope from which I managed to edit to create this so if credits go to anyone it would have to be them.

Have a good look at the Comparisons image to see how this will benefit your sky from the vanilla game, but you won't really appreciate it until you see it in-game trust me!

THE MOON REPLACERS AREN'T GREAT RIGHT NOW AS YOU GET TRANSPARENCY WITH THE OTHER ONE BUT I WILL SORT SOMETHING OUT FOR THAT SOON.

- 28/09/2012: Added a (masser) moon replacer (the big red one) which changes it to 7 new galaxy/nebula/supernova images that will change every few days. Check the screens to see what you get.

- 01/10/2012: Added a secunda moon replacer using the same texture file, for now it's just to prevent the see through moon but I may make some new ones for variety.

The base texture size of the star textures is set at 512x512 which is just too small for me so I have replaced it with a personally customized 2048x2048 high resolution texture file, or if you want an ultra resolution texture I have made a 4096x4096 file.

I must point out that the 4096 size textures have considerably more stars and finer details, so make sure to adjust your graphics settings to be able to view finer distant details

Simply choose which colour and resolution file you desire and place the texture folder into your data directory. CHOOSE ONLY ONE FILE!

I suggest doing this manually as I do not use NMM and therefore cannot guaruntee successful installation, but hey you might get lucky!

The only mod I am aware of that works the same way is Enhanced Night Skyrim which uses a 1024x1024 texture for it's stars, if you wish to use this alonside that mod then overwrite those textures when installing this

I am willing to expand on this project if I get the right requests just let me know and i'll see what I can do to build on this ;)
