12/3/2014 - GendunDrup has uploaded a fixed version of this mod that allows the Prophet quest to progress normally. Download it here. :) (Note: Only run ONE of the .esps, mine is no longer needed to use his.)

12/6/2012 - Description update again. Updated Known Issues.

9/15/2012 - Description update only. Please read Known Issues section!

This mod allows the player to join and complete the Dawnguard side of the Skyrim: Dawnguard quest line as a vampire. It also allows you to use Dawnguard services and followers normally if you are a member of the Dawnguard and a vampire.

Specifically, it blocks certain dialog and events that can occur if the player is a vampire, and causes the game to treat you as if you were not a vampire. It does this by adding a condition that would require the player to be a member of DLC1VampireFaction for those events/dialog to occur - something that is impossible if you are a member of the Dawnguard. There are also a couple instances where it forces dialog by removing the condition that checks to see if the player is NOT a vampire before allowing you to advance.

I'm not 100% certain if this is the best way to do this, but I am not an expert modder, so I just did what seemed most logical within my limited knowledge of the Creation Kit. I would be interested in seeing if anyone else has other ways of doing this.

This is the first mod I have shared anywhere, as most of my mods are just small game changes for personal use, but I've seen a few people on forums wondering if they could join the Dawnguard as a vampire, so I thought I would share.

Skyrim, Dawnguard

No other mods are required.

Use the Nexus Mod Manager, OR:

To install, place the .esp in your /Skyrim/Data folder.

To activate, check the file under Data Files on the Skyrim launcher.

To uninstall, delete the .esp.

As with any mod, this will conflict with any other mod that tries to change the same game elements. In this case, that includes a quest (A New Order), Dawnguard NPC dialog, and Dawnguard follower behavior and dialog.

If none of your installed mods affect these things, you should be fine.

Known Issues

(Minor Spoilers)
The Dawnguard quest "Prophet" may not be properly added to your quest log after completion of "A New Order". Because of this I recommend NOT loading my mod until it is needed, that is:

During A New Order, after finding Sorine and Gunmar, but just before returning to Isran. If you load the mod at this point the quests should progress normally. This only works on a new character who hasn't had this mod running.

Things should also work if you become a vampire after this point and then load the mod.

If you already played to this point with the mod, you can add Prophet to your log by entering "setstage DLC1VQ03Hunter 5" into the console after Isran finishes his speech and A New Order completes. (Thanks seldalore) Be sure to progress to the next stage (talk to Serana and Isran) before saving - not doing so may cause the quest to vanish on reload.

Thanks to Bethesda for creating Skyrim and Dawnguard :)
