Another story of Dragonborn Dannee and her difficult and sometimes funny relationship with her unusual friend.


Another Contest.

The life with Dragonborn is not always easy, since besides fighting evil and saving people of Skyrim there are always more mundane but nevertheless very important affairs. After Thorald’s rescue from the Thalmor Dannee and her friend decided to have a little celebration, but instead a party with ale and mead, Dannee decided to make simply a grand dinner, much to her friend’s horror.
“A party without drinking?! Sweetie, you are torturing me!” replied Sanguine in dismay.
“You know that since our night to remember I made an oath not to drink and I am not going to break it. But you can go to some inn, find yourself a company and have a ‘real party’ if that what you want, I am not holding you,” Dannee calmly answered.
He sighed, Dannee was such stubborn and headstrong young woman, even despite her attraction to him, all that he got in return was her friendship but nothing more that that, at least for now. It was because her traumatic and horrible past she was afraid to get closer even to him and surely by drinking or having night of revelry in other company he wouldn’t win her heart. Dragonborns like dragons cannot be tamed only befriended. Dannee was no different, and so he decided to stay with her, even if it means being in constant sober state because wining her heart and soul were much more valuable to him than another night of debauchery. But still even such celebration could turn into some fun anyway. Though Dannee was a fearsome warrior and talented mage, cooking was not so inspiring to her, though she tried to be good in that field too. So, he decided to tease her to make their evening more interesting:
“Dearie, you must know that everything you do, I can do better. How about another friendly competition? Or maybe you're afraid?”
"Yeah, I'm terrified. I just don't gamble... especially with you and especially since our last contest," replied Dannee with humor.
“You don't gamble? Dannee, who are we kidding here? You are a Dragonborn. Every day of your life is a roll of the die. As for our last contest, as I recall someone long ago also promised to drink me under the table… Do you remember what happened afterwards?” asked her Sanguine with undeniable sarcasm.
“It is hard to forget, especially my betrothal with hograven. It was really stupid for me to agree to that contest anyway, since none in whole Skyrim can drink you under the table, such thing is impossible because you are the embodiment of revelry and debauchery. I didn’t know about that, it was my bad. But another competition with you…” Then Dannee understand what he was hinting at. “Wait, you can cook too?! I thought you could only create your special brew that can turn very stuffy and sad Dragonborn into drunken thief.”
“I have many talents. Since eating is one of the pleasures in life, of course I can create something that will satisfy even such gourmet as you. But you will cook something first, something serious too but not your sweet pies…” his eyes were gleaming with mischief.
“Right, I will do my best – the vegetable soup and venison stew. You should prepare to be amazed!” exclaimed Dannee with pride.
“I rely only on my immortality that will save me from your food if this turns out badly,” joked Sanguine.
“Hey, you don’t know what I am capable of!” interrupted him Dannee, because it was unbelievable how he was always making fun of her. He did prove difficult to live with, always watching her with his dark eyes. When he stared at her it felt as though he was gazing at her very soul. She felt naked, because she wanted to keep her soul’s inter-workings and desires to herself; after all they were very personal and private matters and such stares from him would make her knees weak and heart racing.
“You are right, I am sorry sweetie. But since that is a competition, what would we bet?”
“Let see… Since you like to boast even about your cooking talents, if I win - you have to cook breakfast for me – tomorrow morning."
"You call that winning?" smirked Sanguine.
"Good point. If I win, you have to collect all the firewood for one week."
"No problem. And if I win…” he looked at her grinning.
“No, no and no! Don’t you dare ever to think about that!” said Dannee, imagining what he may ask of her.
“Of what?” he gave her his most innocent look and friendly smile. “I was thinking that if I win, you have to make me those little dumplings with the red stuff inside that you made last week. And if I win you will also wash the dishes after our every meal together, because I hate to do that myself.”
“Ok” replied Dannee with determination to win, though she was grateful that he didn’t demand something indecent from her as a bet. “What will you cook?”
“Just wait and see. And don’t you dare to eat bread, it will ruin your appetite and spoil our little friendly competition. We don’t want that, do we?”
Dannee looked at him incredulously and answered:
“No, we don’t. Fine, I won’t eat anything for now and you will do the some. And remember - no cheating!”
“Oh, you wound me heart by assuming such thing,” he said that words so innocently but Dannee still didn’t believe him, because being a trickster that he is, he just couldn’t play fair.
