Proof that just as a picture is worth a thousand words, sometimes a handful of well-chosen images is worth more than a dozen. I really like the flow between the first shot, the closeup on the hand, and the last shot, even if they're all just re-framings of the same scene. In fact it's probably what makes it work.
Great job with getting the poses set up (I shudder to think how long that must have taken), and yet again a really nice piece of characterization - Viglad's sheepish look and body language, Lydia's exasperation with his excess of caution - it all comes through.
Now enough giving me credit for everything that you do - it's maybe 1% inspiration and 99% (your) perspiration.
I really don't know if you need to keep these settings or trash them for new ones. Because I'm certain you'd come up with something better.
I don't know if almost a week of tweaking is enough, too much or just a little break. Because I can only imagine what you could achieve given more time.
I don't know what's best: the incredible detail or the precise setup of these scenes.
I don't know if I prefer the hands' close-up (that finger!) or the last scene, with the incredible face expressions (is Lydia smiling ironically?)
I can only say one thing: congratulations.
Though I get how you feel. Suddenly you love something...how it looks and feel...and then the next day or day after you change your mind and start all over. Been there for the last week or so...felt like I'm getting SO close and then nothing. Today I've actually managed to get a balance of day and night I really think I can fine tune to something I can live with.
I think you really got something here in these shots.
