D&D Campaign - World of Urun - Hraagnir’s last battlefield
D&D Campaign Character - Ranic of the Sarithans - Barbarian Chieftain
While Ranic of the Sarithans and his many warriors were on the southern front of his lands, fighting off the Hrun invasion, his old friend and fellow warrior, Hraagnir, was doing the same, leading the defense on the eastern front of the Sarithan lands. Soon after the massive battle finished, Ranic found himself the last remaining survivor on his front and then made his way to the eastern front to assess the situation. He spotted less than ten of his clan that survived the eastern assault and was relieved to see that three of those survivors were the sons of Hraagnir. Although Ranic and his men won this battle, it came at the great cost of not only of most of his warriors, but his old friend and best warrior, Hraagnir, himself. Ranic knew the Hrun would be back soon with more warriors than the remaining Sarithans could imagine. He was forced to make the agonizing decision to leave without burying his fallen clansmen, a tradition that was very rarely skipped. Before Ranic and his men were forced to move from their location that night and seek reinforcements against the Hrun threat, he knelt at the ground close by his old friend and fellow warrior, Hraagnir, and uttered these words… and a promise.
“Hear me Hraagnir, my good friend: Know that from now on I will raise your sons as if they were my own. Know that for every Hrun warrior I slay in battle, I shall shout your name. Know that the Hrun Empire shall not only witness my fury, but yours as well. Know that with you watching my back and my desire to avenge your death, that even the near limitless numbers of Hrun warriors shall soon realize, that we shall remain…unconquerable!”
---Ranic, Chieftain of the Sarithan Tribe
