Did one with a ruinspot too, and while it looked kinda cool, the way that texture maps makes it very difficult to scale it.
I try to work with 1k seamless textures that I can "upscale" in the nif to get a really sharp and crip model with pretty small textures.
Works great for vanilla texture normal-maps that are un-decorated. For patterned surfaces, you're limited to stuff like dwemer pottery and brazier texture, that are arranged in an endlessly scaling fashion.
