About this image

Just the statue of Talos. The Empire still values him, I think, but the Thalmor just happened to beat the Empire in the Great War and are now threatening it and demanding everything silly. Like that people should not worship Talos. The Empire is not the problem, the Thalmor are. Who knows, maybe the whole Talos ban thing is just a way for the Thalmor to weaken the Empire. Why can the pompous elves not stay at the Isles. Why do they have to attack the Empire? Some greedy fellows in charge, I bet. That is all it takes. Or maybe "lore" has a better answer. I have not really read much about it. :)

I think I finally found an ENB preset I can play with. The RealLike preset with just EdgeAA, 16xAF, godrays, bloom, depth of field and detailed shadows. Maybe a little something else, too, but mainly just those, I disabled others. But I think it was after the screenshot... nevermind, it still looks good. I can even use Dev Aveza with it now that I got rid of the overly dark shadows! This is fantastic! Of course I could always play without ENB, too. I am still not sure about this ENB thing, as my graphics card runs at around 85-90 degrees celsius. Without ENB preset and only the boost feature, it runs at around 70-80 degrees celsius. It is probably the case that is the culprit, stuffed with a lot of cables, DVD drive, casette drive, ancient sound card, four HDDs, a connection converter card, an r9290 gpu and a generous cooling solution with one small fan at the side, one at the top of back and one hole in the back to take in air. Other than that, a closed box. Great. That one needs some thinking and a better cooling. If even that would help. :P

I highly recommend you read up on the lore at the elder scrolls wiki: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Main_Page

I'm in love with the lore, but yet to read it all. Really is interesting stuff, would highly recommend. But sadly I read way too much Warhammer40k lore... Freaking love the Tyranids... Ah I've gone of topic. Trust me you'll love the site. I think I'll read up on some lore in fact before I go to bed.

What brand is your R9 290? Asus, Msi or Gigabyte? And is it a custom cooling unit or reference design? By the way the the max temperature limit for your card is 95 degrees Celsius, so you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

Indeed. I have been using the UESP Wiki for years, even before Skyrim came out. But the lore is... umm... Bethesda seems to stretch it a bit every time. Or change a little. And add more. It is interesting to read, but it is not something written in stone, so I try not to 'study' it. Reading it is, of course, interesting and gives a background to all the events and the current situation of the game world. The most immersive way is to read in-game books, but the UESP has a nice collection of it organised for easy reading. The 'lore' is why I like the Elder Scrolls: everything usually comes from somewhere. And it is the same world, just different Eras or different centuries of the same Era in a different part of Tamriel. And then they add some things from the previous titles, like Sinderion. I was pretty surprised when I first heard of him. Having come all the way to Skyrim. For Crimson Nirnroot.

The card is the Asus DC2OC version. I would never have bought one with the AMD reference cooling design. It already looks suspicious. The card has been working like a dream. I bought it last autumn and have had no issues despite some reporting them on the Internet. Took quite a while to find a decent card to buy. Like three months of scouring the Internet in search of one that would fit my budget and be able to run some newer games at least for a while. My last card was ATI Radeon HD5570 with 1GB vram. It did run Skyrim decently, but I could not use any texture mods. Also some other games were a bit laggy. Now I am happy. The next thing to change is probably my processor, which is currently an i3-2120 @3.3GHz. It runs the games I play just fine, but I think buying a new one could not hurt. I just need to save enough before it. And also rethink the cooling solution. Watercooling is a no-go, it has to be air. Room temperature here is usually around 20 degrees celsius around the year. But then again, some tests show the card runs at 70-80 degrees celsius regardless of whether it is just standing alone on a table or placed in a closed case (it might not have been the Asus version, but still). So unless I manage to one day improve the airflow in the case so much that it makes the card magically run a bit cooler, it is always going to run warm. I knew it when buying it, but I am still a bit concerned, as even though it indeed has a high temperature 'limit' and will downclock and everything before it gets too warm, the warmer it runs, the shorter it might probably 'live'. And I would like my graphics card to last at least four to five years (a bit long, maybe, to some). The plan is to buy new parts one at a time, not everything at once.

Hmm. I updated from 14.something beta drivers to 15.7.1 and the card runs about ten degrees cooler now, with GPU temp max 79, VDDC1 79 and VDDC2 about 74 degrees celsius - and not just with Skyrim and ENB. Also, it still runs the games just fine and the Asus GPUTweak reports all values to be the same as before, or at least I have not found anything different there. This is fantastic.
