Hi to all the players and modders here on the Nexus. I haven't commented much on this debate however I have read a lot of the posts & comments.

On a personal level I will never prescribe to allowing software and OS suppliers to automatically update my computers / software / games - my computers should work exactly the same as when I left them!! Auto-updates are turned off on everything I own (I even play a daily battle with my Android phone to turn off the updater application). The fact that I even need Steam installed to play Skyrim bugs me, the fact I can't stop it from updating, bugs me even more but I put up with this for this one game.

Anyway, This Is What I Will Be Doing: as a show of support and thanks for all the amazing modders whose mods have added to my Skyrim experience; for the rest of this month and next, I'll be not be buying those few beers or bottle of red every week. Instead I'll donate to a handful of modders. My few $ won't change anyone's life but maybe if everybody who can afford to, donates just a few $ to creators of their favourite mods we will make a big step towards keeping this community strong, if not stronger.

I expect we may see even more gamers moving to the Nexus once they want to get more than a basic sword or dungeon update OR an auto-update has broken their game or mod. I have spent countless hours researching modding my game and have had very few problems or conflicts from over 110 mods currently installed - something that never would have been possible from a paid system such as Valve are attempting to put in place.
