Welcome Kavel...... may Hircine bless you many times more. You will find friends as well as enemies as your time passes in this land. How you decide to spend your days and with whom, all will be to your path, never wander far from it.... the wilds of temptation to do wrong are boundless, and seeks to corrupt.
I like him!..... that music, made me think of a fighter's theme... him coming down the ramp to enter the ring.
Well done Wolf
The question is this: Could Kavel narrate something different from Grim? What new perspective can show of yourself? The interesting would be a character from a background similar to Grim, but that at reverse. Kavel is heterosexual, beats his dog, is a son of a b&@*$ and naturally will become a vampire, just for the fun of spit in the face to Arkay and Hircine, togheter. The interesting thing is also to explore sides of ourselves less edifying, exploring the relationship between evil and freedom.
Still remains a great male character and definitely will come out a remarkable story, but take at least partly in account, my foolish suggestions.
Hence I am limited to the context of the game and the character I play. I have tried before to play a character I don't like (female, evil, paladin, vampire, etc.) and last about one day. Simply doesn't work for me.
That being said Kavel has some differences - he is more selfish, he is rude and has no sense of charm or speechcraft, he is purely mortal, he is clean and organized and a bit of a perfectionist. He is more moody and sad at times. He has more pride and likes to be the best. He doesn't care too much for people in general.
At least so far. Yet you are correct in that he will mirror Grim in some ways - no way around that if I actually want to play him. I like nature, animals, and being basically good.
My goal is more making him simply mortal (outside of being a werewolf) and struggles as such. Less epic. His connection with Hircine will be more subtle at first.
I suppose you could say he is a weaker and more flawed version of Grim - one that I hope to grow on a more "mortal" scale. The goal is less to have a unique character different from Grim and more a different approach to my writing. A bit more serious as well - similar to how Lia and Jess write if not as dark as Jess.
I lack the desire (I have the ability/imagination but simply do not wish too) to really play someone I would never want to be myself in a game. Probably because games are pure escapism to me and a chance to *slightly* alter my sense of self and view points.
Hope that makes sense to you - because your comment is dead on my friend - what you suggest is what others have suggested to me as well in PMs. Yet I do this for fun so I am restrained somewhat by what I consider "fun" in playing a game.
It will be interesting to see how he gets along with others that he encounters along the way and the struggles he'll have "fitting in". Being a loner, I'd think he would have some difficulty joining the ranks of the BWC. So many possible avenues to explore with this new character... are you excited?
I'm very excited to get to walk along the way with your Kavel. Catch a glimpse of what life has in store for him. I'll miss your wonderful hero Grim, but I'm sure he'll be close by and will maybe be the helping hand that Kavel needs from time-to-time. Grim is definitely someone to look-up to. Not saying good-bye to Grim- I look at it as this-- Grim's handing the carkeys over to Kavel and he say's "Here, you drive for a while".
I really enjoyed and came to understand better the comment exchange (from your first post of Kavel) that you had with Heaventhere. Very enlightening and I also very much agree. I hope you will further develop Kavel and share more of your Skyrim- through his eyes. Thanks Jon - have a great weekend!
I am excited about him although I have yet to decide if he will be a main character or not. I am still developing his personality and starting to work on his over-arching plot line and story (which has to be looked at well in advance before I write too much.
Luckily there is no rush or ETA so I can go at my own pace. I am currently working on what animal companion he will have. It won't be a wolf - as I want to avoid falling into a trap of making him a shadow of Grim. He will be unique so putting some thought into his development.
Glad you also enjoyed my rambles to Shelley (Heaventhere) ... I do go off on many tangents sometimes in my comments lol. I always find it interesting how people see characters.
I tend to focus on a single character and stick with them for a very long time (like Heaventhere and Nataly do) while others like a large variety (Heidi, Alexi, and Jessb) for example. So it is never easy for me to switch
I am glad to hear that Grim will not be gone totally as Nataly said below, as to be honest always felt a connection to Grim and his Erik and Wolfgar.
Great shots of Kavel and great back story on him so far.
In this story Hircine will be something special to Kavel, who is a devout follower (but not a blind one - he won't just do everything Hircine says without question by any means - there will be some arguments between them). Also Hircine will be closer to my version of him - meaning the wise old wolf - still neutral overall, like nature and animals, but a bit warmer and far less blood-thirsty. More about balance and rhythm of nature and life.
As you will see in my other comments, as well, Grim is around - was playing him last night and had a blast actually.
I think a lot of this is just a need to play with another character concept as a change of pace.
