About this image

Experimenting with replacing Imperial heavy shield with Roman scutum from Jedo_Dre's great Roman armour mod. It works very well, and I was able to make support for shield on back (though there is some clipping with cloaks because of the size of the shield, which I'm trying to reduce).

It's actually lore-friendly in a way. In Morrowind, Legion soldiers carried a Roman-style scutum. Maybe I will include this in my Legion overhaul (of course, if I get permission) maybe with some more lore-friendly textures, if people like this idea.

I love the idea of scutum but with lore-friendly imperial designs! The shield is definitely too big by default though especially compared to what the guards used in Morrowind. Thank you and keep up the good work

It's true it's much bigger than Morrowind's scutum. Don't let this picture fool you though, my character is very short, so this shield looks much bigger on her. On normal soldier NPC's, it looks perfect, even when hanging on their back. Almost no clipping now. MAYBE I'll make it a little bit smaller, but I really like this traditional Roman size (and it's actually excellent for blocking arrows, just like the real scutum).

I am starting to reskin this shield now, to make it fit in a little bit better with the other vanilla shields. I haven't come up with a design for the front yet, but I will try to blend the Roman style with lore-friendly Imperial motifs.

Can't have too many Roman types in the Empire I always say. Looks very good.
