About this image
Working On this a bit, the idea being that since my pictures arnt all that popular I will try feed the skyrim world some new content
though at the moment im wondering if I should bother with the effort involved, ATM i have hundreds of models I could use in skyrim but it seems the people that KNOW how to do the things i need dont aint intrested in sharing that knowledge, be it becasue they dont wanna help other modders grow, or like to horde the spotlight, im not sure but yeah, its disheartening eitherway...
I wasnt aware that nexus was a popularity based monopoly
There are obviously people that i like and respect adn they are obviously not related in anyway to this post on this page...
and others, not so much, this group... well basically, I learnt years ago that you only have love for those who have love for you...

I know that blender (which is free) can output it in this format, as can 3ds max.
Also .nif is totally triangles, not polygons. Also it says not to convert .obj to nif because it doesnt generally work very well !
Also models in .nif dont really have lods, except for landscapes. The .nif file format is a scene graph that can save a whole scene.
I think lots of different objects in different niff files can be linked by named nodes somehow.
Hope this is of some small help.
Btw do you have issues with unwrapping and texturing the object or is it just getting it into skyrim ?
Also I in no way way mean to put you off, but to test the popularity of any content you may have you might want to look at how many downloads there have been for similar items. I know armour and clothes are very popular, though Im not sure how much call there is for new monsters, unless maybe it is a follower possably I also dont know how to integrate them into the game come to that.
Personally Ive always wanted to see a slightly nicer marsh tree, which looks a bit too polygony !
Though of course no too many more polys as that would slow it all down !
Also I think there are 2 types of landscape file possably .esp and . esm, one which replaces an area and one which modifies it ? Though this is getting beyond the limits of my understanding and may well be wrong
as for this creature, i was thinking companion style thing / mount maybe?
I rigg Im used to is actual bones and deformers, not the same as the node system sykrim seems to use...
and Fred you have been a great support since i started back on the nexus and i really appreciate your feedback,
As for the tree, I think i can do that to be honest, it wont be hard at all to make
I guess it might be a question of scale !
I was trying to think what your hound reminded me of and I think it might be the hell hounds from ghostbusters ! Though slightly cuter looking !
Btw I do get slightly confused by this, but I think that photographers are 10 a penny on the nexus, but moddlers are a rare breed. I say confused because I cant name any moddlers apart from neo and turbosnowy and caliente off the top of my head, and yet there appear to be thousands of armour and clothing items on the nexus!
Anyway I think in .nif everything is a node, be it a mesh or a bone or whatever.
I had a quick look around for deformers and the best I could find is this :-
http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Working_with_Skyrim_head_TRIs
.tri appears to be some kind of deformation file
Again I hope this might be of some small help.
p.s. I think there must be something thats tricky about trees because Im not sure if Ive ever seen one change shape ! Ive seen them bigger and with additional branches, and I seen them change colours. But Im not sure Ive ever seen an "improved tree". Though bittercoast, which I think is some kind of skyrim oblivion mod might be the exception to the rule. (I think this one requires oblivion as well as skyrim for copyright reasons)
Anyway thank you for your reply and good luck with whatever you do decide
as for the trees, i think it COULD be 2 things,
1: people are to lazy to MAKE them rather than use a downloaded one or
2: people arnt sure how to make them low poly
but then im a bit of a cynic,
thanks heap fred, that WAS indeed useful
indeed disheartening... :v
