Now with both groups of travelers on the move I can only hope that they can cross paths at some point. The Banter would be amazing!
The fox with the "Intelligent eyes" makes me wonder what could be happening there. Very interesting!
Looking forward to seeing where this is going!
One of your best my friend!
The paths of the two groups are certainly nearing, both having traveled to the plains, if they continue in the same direction they might indeed find each other ;-) Would be some interesting banter to write.
Good to hear that unusual fox has you wondering about what might be happening, another mystery to solve.
I am delighted you think so, my friend
I loved the opening of this chapter with Dimitri and Edrelle sharing a warm cuddle (and he good natured jibes about Dimitri bearing resemblance to a fawn)! They have such a sweet relationship. It’s one of my favourites on the Nexus. I also never tire of seeing how the band (Edrelle’s) interact; the gentle words traded as they wander to their destination. That little comment from Elouen to Edrelle about ‘big sister’ got me thinking… could there actually be a blood link between these two?
I’m glad to read about Akhz’iir and co again, it seems like ages since we saw them atop the throat of the world. I wonder about the fox and whether that has something to do with Karliah (or Nocturnal herself). A most intriguing setup and one I’m looking forward to catching again soon.
Your images are stunning as always my dear, matched only by the beauty of your words. I’m surprised to hear you had trouble finding the flow of this tale; surprised only because it flows like liquid to me. I’m always astounded by your command of words; you truly are a master word-smith.
I am really happy you love the opening of this chapter, Dimitri and Edrelle not quite wanting to leave the coziness of the bed, Edrelle sure likes to tease the archer a little. I guess my romantic side makes for that sweetness in their relationship. Really nice to hear that is is one of your favorites. The band do like to keep each other's spirits up with some gentle words, I am glad you enjoy that way they interact. Elouen and Edrelle like to joke about Elouen being like an older sister with how she watches over the thief, they do no in fact have a blood link between them.
Was great to be writing about Akhaz'iir and co again, has been a while indeed since the last chapter with their battle atop the mountain, feels like ages for me too. Glad that unusually inquisitive fox has you intrigued, I will say that it has nothing to do with Karliah or Nocturnal.
A wonder to hear that you find the images stunning, took a while to take and to choose them for the tale. My ideas for the chapter were a little jumbled so the tale was coming out a little disorganized, the writing flowed better when I got my ideas in order. I have always had a fondness for words and it does help with the tales; I am flattered you think I am a master word-smith, Jess
Also I can't blame Dimitri for not wanting his friends from knowing he sleeps like a gentle fawn ... would indeed probaly not be good for his reputation lol. Seems like the guards could use some of that good sleep as well as one snapped awake as the group left the city walls. Also noticed you added a couple of mentions of Dimitri and his older brother, possible foreshadowing of future story lines perhaps? Even if not always good to add those hooks in early just in case!
A nice clue from Karliah even if a bit old and a little sketchy on details - but as they said better than nothing. It was a nice scene of them laughing and eating together as they recounted old tales.
[Out of context I can hardly wait until we have a game like Skyrim but with characters that have this level of depth through out the game ... where you could sit down and chat or have more random conversations. Bioware is not to bad with this.Anyhow a dream to have very in-depth characters with a sandbox game like Skyrim]
Some great descriptions as well (that shot of Honey Stripes withthe long tail perspective is great) and the nobles display case was a wonderful metaphor of the leaves trapped in frozen water. A comforting trip through nature for the group as they watched the wildlife, enjoyed the scenery, and met the lone hunter trying to make a living as she came across the group. I doubt that group has much to fear from animals or bandits for that matter!
You certainly made Rorikstead sound ideal - that child metaphor makes the town seem like some quaint sleepy little town that is very innocent ... which in a way it is.
Now I know where the other shots came from - the second part of the tale with Akhaz'iir. I do remember this team although I came onto it late - my main memory is of the events in High Hrothgar. Some great scenery shots as this group works there way out of the mountains and into the forest.
Very curious what force, power, or entity was watching the group through the eyes of the fox ... for surely there was something there of intelligence spying on them. Very curious indeed!
That bridge shot is my favorite of the set I think. The DoF really makes it pop with the group walking over it. Superb shot.
So it seems like your stories may cross-over ... curious to see where this will go and very nice to see another story from you Alexi - enjoyed this very much!
Hehe, would be a little difficult for him to keep up that boastful persona of his if they knew the way he slept, would make for a lot of teasing. That one guard sure needed a few more hours sleep, though It is easy to nod off after a night patrol when it is so quiet. A little while ago I decided to re-read the backstory CrimsonFairy had written for Dimitri and his lost brother was a detail that stood out to me and I thought it explained well how much he understands Edrelle's search for answers, may make for a side tale at some point.
It is good that Karliah remembered that tale she heard, knowing that Edrelle searched for answers woke those memories - they can't complain about having a lead to follow even sketchy on details as it is. The group thought could use a little cheering up with that sharing of tales.
[I would also like to see a game that gives some depth to its characters, that really focuses on their personalities and their pasts... I do like those little details you get about characters in conversations in Bioware games but they could do even better. Let us hope such a game will exist]
Had some fun with the descriptions in this chapter (When I was choosing the shots I really wanted to use that one for its perspective), that description with the leaves under the ice like a noble's display case was inspired by something I saw on a recent walk in the forest, the snow had mostly melted but it left all kinds of frozen ponds with leaves encased in the ice, there were interesting patterns in the ice as well, wanted to bring a little of that into the tale. The group were lucky their journey was quiet, allowing them to take in the sights, sharing a kind greeting with that passing hunter. You are right that they have little to fear from animals and bandits :-)
Nice to hear I make Rorikstead seemideal and quaint with that metaphor, I always see it as a peaceful place along the road, the warmth of the campfire so inviting.
I knew you were somewhat familiar with Akha'ziir, though a bit about that as I was writing that part, the battle in High Hrothgar is not something they will forget. I am glad you liked those glimpses of scenery as they made their way from mountains to forest.
I am happy you caught those little clues about that power or entity keeping an eye on the sly one and her friends, glad it has you curious, certainly is a mystery to be unraveled ;-)
It is a bit of a challenge to take a shot in that spot with the odd distant textures that appear at certain angles, I was quite surprise it turned out well, the DoF helped out. Thank you very much.
The paths of both groups are certainly nearing with every step they take ... do have some ideas that I hope will be interesting, was good to get back to writing stories - a joy to hear you enjoyed this chapter very much, Jonathan
The morning scene between Edrelle and Dimitri was very cute and endearing... I adore ho tender, how understanding they are with each other, so the moments of seriousness pass to moments of tenderness and playfulness they both have. Dimitri must look very cute indeed if Edrelle has compared him to fawn when he was sleeping! Also great to know that Edrelle journey continues, even though she is still far from the answer about her mysterious foe, who tried to kill her... Yet they do have a clue at least!
Also it was very heartwarming to see Akhaz'iir, it is certainly have been a while since he last appeared! He also has a great road ahead of him, right now going to the Jarl for help. and i ave a feeling, that judging from Karliah words, from honey stripes feeling we might soon get a crossover of Edrelle with Akhaz'iir, since maybe that mysterious one, who knows so well about spying business could be his sister? in any case I hope we will find out!
Thank you very much for sharing your wonderful work, it was so worth the wait! And I will be looking forward for continuation!
Always like writing about those moments between them, great to hear the scene was cute and endearing, I know how much you like their relationship, they certainly understand each other well, they do not dwell too long on serious things playful as they are. It was mostly his gentle breaths with their slight whistle that made him look so cute to Edrelle. Her journey does indeed continue with those many answers left to find, they are proving quite elusive, one thread to follow to a possible answer is better than having none at all.
I am happy it warmed your heart to see the scout again, had been planning his return for some time, glad to have reached that moment, was nice to write about him again after quite some time. He does have quite the things to face on his road which will require some effort, like convincing the Jarl. I had no doubt you would catch on to the clues about the mysterious one in Karliah's words and Honey Stripes feeling, more clues will appear that might give you the answer to your question
Thank you very much for the kind words, Nataly, glad this chapter was worth that wait. Look forward to sharing the next chapter ^^
Well done a great episode.
Thanks a lot, Theoldfathan
