This is awesome new chapter, filled with tension, wonderfully written and with great, expressive shots!
I admit, it was very sad such tension and frustration between siblings... each sister tried to prove her point but in their recent quarrel it seemed that they both listened only to the sound of their own voices. poor Sigyn... for warrior like her, a mercenary, sitting in palace is like a new form of torture, with having nothing else to do then go around the city. I can probably guess about why Ulfric has decided so, but he should have explained it to Sigyn, because she feels herself under appreciated and even trapped in gilded cage. her recent fight with Lubis also doesn't help things at all, but at least the gift from her admirer has calmed Sigyn's nerves a bit.

And Despair certainly knows how to make an entrance! I also feel that if she turned in her full power, the inn might have faced with mass suicide of its customers, but calculation is integral part of Despair's character, so she left those people be, focusing on her target only. In Lubis case it was not hard indeed. Like Sigyn she feels herself trapped with a life she doesn't want to live in a place she disdains. they could relate on this, but alas, sisters have very different personalities. For Despair tormenting Lubis was probably like a piece of cake. Yet her target is not Lubis, but Sigyn...

I admire how Sigyn decided to check on her sister and when she has seen how Lubis acted, even despite her old trauma, tied with drowning, Sigyn still jumped after her without hesitation! i guess fate was on their side... as well as Faolin, who apparently still harbors affection and love for his sisters. He did a good thing, that he guessed to tell guards to get furs since without warmth, even given their Nord heritage, sisters could die from freezing to death. the moment between him and Sigyn when he placed a cloak on her was heartwarming... even though Sigyn did not know who is he for real.

And even with Lubis saving, Sigyn's trials are far from over! I can understand her confusing at her sisters antics, given how Lubis manipulated siblings when they were younger, but she also noticed something was definitely off with Lubis when she headed for that bridge and jumped. and now the letter! It was certainly Despair's doing ad now she wans Sigyn to practically sell her soul for vengeance! Will she accept or not, given that she doesn't know the price. Oh, the anticipation and tension here is incredible!
I will look forward for continuation and thank you for sharing your wonderful work!

Thank you Nataly dear , specialy for your comment and feedback ! Glad you enjoyed this new chapter :-)

Wouldn't really say they were listening to the sound of their own voice, but probably weren't logically thinking because of their frustration....and in the heat of things just ended up spitting harsh words at each other instead of just working things out. Sitting idle for a warrior like Sigyn, it's really a torture. Ulfric sure should of at least informed of some of reasoning for keeping her out of the fighting for now...but instead she have that feeling of being trapped in a golden cage. Her secret admirer sure had the right guess with going with that specific flower..not only it's her favorite..but it tends to calm her. But who is the admirer ;-) ?

Despair sure have a sense for the dramatic ! Unleashing her full power in the inn would of undoubtedly caused the mass suicide of its customers..which would of been more troublesome for Despair's plan in the long run. She is indeed very calculating....a predator that take the time to stalk it's prey before making it's move..although she's very opportunist as well. It wasn't hard for her to break poor Lubis. Lubis was merely a pawn in Despair plan to get to Sigyn..her death hardly mattered to her....Either way now, to Despair Lubis have played her part and Despair was able to sow the seed of discord in Sigyn's mind....she just need to wait a little to reap her reward.

Sigyn and Lubis might not see eye to eye most of the time, but they are still sisters. Even with her trauma related to drowning, Sigyn would not of sit idly by with Lubis in mortal danger. For all his bad deeds and his dark side, Faolin still cares for his family....as hard to believe as it can be...he would of done the same as Sigyn did at her place. The small gesture between Sigyn and Faolin was just a small bittersweet element i just wanted to add in there. Faolin was probably dieing to reveal himself..but choose against it since it would of turned into a bad idea..and sort of spoiled the moment.

Sigyn is far from being out of trouble, they more are only beginning. She have no way of knowing what Lubis real intention were. Was it just one of her antics to get attention or mean of manipulation or not....and regardless she find herself with her back against the wall for that..and won't have much choice but to oblige Lubis with leaving Windhelm..at least to an extend. And Despair letter...baiting Sigyn with her heart's vengeance. I'm afraid she might not resist the temptation...

Another great entry Liadys, very suspenseful, and with a lot of tension. Interesting that Sigyn feels trapped and desperate to get out and do something, to escape her "gilded cage" yet completely misses the fact that Lubis feels the exact same way. And both of them are talking, but neither one is listening to the other. Throw in the problems from Faolin, and the love/hate thing going on there, and the mysterious someone you keep hinting at that is chasing them... And then, just for fun, you throw Despair at them. Kinda overkill, but she must have enjoyed it.

And of course, you leave us with a cliff-hanger (EVIL) in the form of a letter and an offer that Sigyn will be sorely tempted to take, even if it means her soul.

Don't suppose you could, y'know, just lock all three of them in a small room together until they start sorting this mess out? Hmm? No? Ah well.

Thank you dear for your comment ! Glad you enjoyed this chapter !! Very ironic that both sisters feel trapped and desperate about getting away from their situation to the point that they completely miss the fact that the other is feeling exactly the same way. The mysterious person that is supposively chasing them is Faolin ( The whole thing being a machination from Aenar) ...of course i would throw Despair at them..just for fun ..because you know i'm a very evil person hehe. I love my cliff-hangers..what can i say ! I wouldn't feed good about myself if i wasn't teasing the readers a little bit hehe. Sigyn will indeed be very tempted by this offer...even if the cost is her soul...

I could lock them in the same room all together..but i don't think anything would get sorted out right now..and the walls would probably just end up being painted red XD.

Epic chapter. Sad to see Lubis broken to the point of jumping, but have to admire how easily Despair's very presence could break her down. I wonder how many patrons drank themselves to death that evening?

Very courageous of Sigyn to jump in after her Sister without hesitation or considering the risk to her own life. Glad they weren't visiting the College that day!

In her current state of mind I fear she might accept the offer in the letter. But again nice timing by Despair. I wonder what she is up to?

    Brilliant work as always dear!

    Thank you for the link!!!

Very dramatic moments for Lubis there..but Despair being what she is..had hardly any trouble break poor Lubis down to that point. She restrained her aura on most of the patrons so it did not turn out into a mass suicide festival...but probable more then one patron drank a bit more then the usual.

Very courageous though on the other hand there was a part foolishness to her action. Risking her own life to try and save her sister, she would not of stood idly by and just let it happen. It was her sister after all. Probably best they weren't at the college that day lol. Would of had to add Aenar to the mix ..that would of been nasty lol.

I would fear the same for Sigyn, in her current state of mind, even if she might take the time to think the offer through..she might not resist the temptation of it in the end. Despair is an opportunist...that and she's pretty calculating. She set those event in motions and now she have sown the seed of discord in Sigyn's mind...she's just waiting to reap the reward now...

Thank you Aok, for your comment and feedback! Very happy you enjoyed it !

Avery dramatic piece that only made it all the harder in the end when Sigyn came back to that letter. The drama really built up nicely and you worked it well. There was some nice ebb and flow to the whole story.

The sisters separated and Sigyn feeling a little bit of remorse that she may have over-reacted. She then calms down and enjoyed the flower from the mystery person even while feeling a little unsettled over it.

Meanwhile Lubis is distraught over her sister, the small space, her sense of feeling trapped. In many ways she is in a cage as well. Both of them have that in common if in a somewhat different sense. Then that horrible Despair sneaking in and casting her spell, toying with the poor lass and finally pushing her over the edge - emotionally and literally.

Good thing Sigyn went to check up on her ... or perhaps someone put that thought into her? I mean at first I thought it was Despairs plan to have Lubis actually die. Then Sigyn might blame herself to some degree and thus make her more vulnerable to Despair. But maybe that was not the plan at all? Or maybe the death did not matter - the point was to just increase the stress and frustration on Sigyn.

Great build up as Lubis jumped ship ... or hold ... and as others mentioned both Sigyn and Faolin leapt into action with little thought showing they still have a strong family connection. It was a very bittersweet moment though. While they all survived it only enforced a sense of disdain in Sigyn towards Lubis. Then the cruel reminder of Faolin and Sigyns love for each other hidden behind a mask knowing that Sigyn is being manipulated by many different forces to think ill of Faolin and want to destory him.

The final note the clincher as Despair makes her pitch ... and then Sigyn may lose her soul like Faolin almost did by pledging to another dark Prince.

Great images and story Lia - good Monday read!

And to think this is just the start to more dramatic events...I starting to think that i'm enjoying drama a whole little too much!

They both were yelling at each other and needed to calm down their separate ways otherwise i think things may of just turned into more yelling and perhaps even more nasty things. Sigyn was not really frustrated with Lubis..she just took out her anger on her..much like Lubis did the same on Sigyn. It can be quite unsettling to receive such gift from someone that you have no idea who that is...specially considering that Sigyn never told anybody that she liked that kind of flower. Whoever it is, they sure took the right guess with it, not only it's her favorite..it calms her down also.

They do have more in common then they realize even if they have completely different lifestyles. They both feel trapped by their current situation. Poor Lubis...Despair just HAD to show her ugly face at that specific moment to make everything worst and push her over the edge.

Perhaps it was part of Despair plan that Sigyn went to check on Lubis, maybe not. Nor did Lubis death really mattered to her, she only wanted to make sure she would be out of the picture when the time came. Death surely would of been the best option of course...but she is probably counting on Sigyn sending Lubis away. Either or..Sigyn would find herself more vulnerable to Despair influence.

Despite everything that happened between them all, they still deep down care for one an other. Well Faolin might not benefit anymore from as much care as he does for his family nowadays. Lubis is one that would do such a thing to gain attention..which makes it hard for Sigyn to know if it was for attention or she's really that much into distress..which doesn't help with her sense of disdain she have toward what her sister tried. Might not make much sense considering she's a mercenary and she have killed more then her share of people....but to her a life is too precious to be wasted on a cowardly act like suicide.

The gesture the twins had for one an other, without really knowing. It was very bittersweet. Sadly Sigyn doesn't realize nor does Faolin, that she have been manipulated by many to come to hate the one she saw as her twin for so long, to a point that now she wants to kill him.

Despair sure made sure not to mention that the price is more then a drop of blood, it's her very soul. Like Faolin, right now she risks alot if she makes the wrong decision..which i'm quite afraid she might do...

Thank you kindly Jon for your comment and feedback ! Very happy you enjoyed this chapter !

Sigyn's thoughts seem to almost be taunting her as her frustration simmered, the words shared with Lubis waking that fire in her. Was great how you describe her preference for wandering the roads, sleeping in place lacking luxury, as ever she has that restless spirit of a warrior, I can see how her feeling caged onyl adds to her sour mood. I really like the emotion you brought out in those moments. I could really feel that tension as the dark cloud that was the spell of Despair settle over Lubis as she was left with her thoughts, the room seeming to close in around her, such a deadly game she plays with mortal minds.

It is fortunate for Lubis that Sigyn stepped back into the cold when she did, being there in time to bravely dive in after her sister, caring despite the words they had shared before. It is good that Falolin was there as well, watching over his siblings from behind a guard's mask. Seemed he almost wanted show his face when he draped that fur cloak over Sigyn's shoulder but knowing he could not, at least he can console himself with having saved her life. I hope Sigyn takes time to think over that mysterious letter, she must be careful lest the need for revenge consumes her, an intriguing ending to a very well written chapter, Liadys

Thank you dear ! Very happy you enjoyed this chapter ! She gets much frustration from being 'caged' that way..Sigyn hates sitting idle, the restless spirit of a warrior i suppose. She's a woman of action to say the least. Her personality and Lubis's personality are bound to clash eventually but despite it all, they are still sisters. Despair delight in those cruel games she plays with frail mortal minds...sadly she's not quite done yet.

Very fortunate for Lubis that Sigyn was there to dive in right after her. Even if not long before they exchanged harsh words. Even if they can both exasperate each other at time, they still do care for one an other. Faolin also care for his family even if with the dark path he set himself on it doesn't show that much..and that he could be to blame for alot what is happening. He would of shown his face to save Lubis once she was out of the water had Sigyn not interrupted him. He most likely still wanted to reveal himself to Sigyn when he placed the fur cloak on her shoulder but will have to be content with the small gratitude gesture she had.

Lets hope she'll think things over as far as the letter..though i'm afraid she might not be able to resist the temptation laid before her.

Thank you kindly for your comment and feedback friend !

Powerful installment my dear! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. From your previous teaser I knew this was going to be packing a punch! I think my heart skipped a few beats ( in a different way than your mmmmanly monday set, lol) when Lubis fell. Was so relieved that Sigyn with little to no deliberation jumped in right behind her. That really showed the strength of the bond that would be there no matter what differences they had. Then when Faolin saw what was happening and started running... I was like YES!! On pins and needles when he reached to remove his helmet and then Sig unknowingly intervened, the gesture of gratitude, ambiguously sweet and very well written!

Relief does not last long in this story. My heart sank a little when Sigyn saw the letter... which can be from no other than the dreaded Despair. No rest for the wicked... still so much danger and uncertainty. I do hope she does not accept any dealings. I am more than curious to see what happens next!
And thanks so much for linking my last set.. I really do appreciate that ; ))

Took me quite a bit to write this part, started over some part a few times..hence why i wasn't able to release it during the weekend as i was originally planning, but i believe the delay was worth it. Really wanted to try to make it quite dramatic, the part where Lubis jumps. Even with their different and their very much clashing personality, she's still Sigyn's sister and well she won't think twice before getting her out of trouble..even if she's gonna be upset afterward. Faolin still cares for his family despite the dark path he treads on...and that he is mostly to blame for alot of what is going on. He would of blown his cover to save Lubis even if that meant having Sigyn at his throat right after. Wanted her to have unknowingly a tender gesture toward her twin.

Indeed, no rest for the wicked. Despair is carefully setting her plan into motion. Which leave Sigyn still in much danger. I'm unsure if Sig will resist the temptation and not accept the deal..I'm afraid she might just make that mistake .

I'm very happy you enjoyed this new part of my story and thank you ever so much for your comment and feedback ! It's my pleasure to link your amazing work dearest !

Stunning new chapter my friend, very well done. Lubis was and most likely still is in quite the danger; but I fear Sigyn is in far more danger - as a deal with D. (which I assume is Despair) and her "Patron" .. might be most dangerous and troublesome! I do hope she will not accept the deal - despite her wanting to deal with her foe - which I assume is Faolin, as I assume with the foe's Patron Boethia is meant

Not sure if I'm glad that Faolin did not reveal himself - as it might have made the deal absolutely unnecessary for Sigyn. Will be interesting what will happen next!

Great work and amazing shots my friend. and thank you for the link

Thank you my friend ! I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter !!! I'd say that all 3 of the siblings present in Windhelm are in danger, Lubis might be a little more off the hook but she's not quite out of danger yet..and well I'm afraid that your suspicions about Sigyn being in far more danger then her sister is right as well as all the other supposition you made, It's indeed Despair that wrote that letter and the foe she speak of is Faolin and his patron is Boethiah.

Perhaps it would of been a good thing if he had revealed himself, counter Despair plans by doing so...but Sigyn did not let him. We'll see how this all play out
