About this image

My PC took a little knock this weekend, resulting in a bit of a dent in the casing. Still started up fine, so I ignored it. Played Skyrim, took this image, noticed my fps was 6. While I was staring at that figure, wondering what was wrong, the monitor flashed something about no video signal, then the PC shut down. After investigating, found that the dent was exactly over the video card, causing the casing to touch it. The heat coming off the card ment it was too hot to touch. Left it for half an hour while I hammered out the dent. Tried Skyrim again, max 10 fps. Think the cards had it.

If its working but slowly, then its probably working, just overheating. It is probably something to do with your fan on the graphics card, heat pipes or more probably that your heatsink is no longer properly mounted on the chip on the graphics card.
How you fix any of those is another question though ! My best guess is that you might need to remount the heatsink. (The big thing with heatpipes and fans or just fans if no heatpipes!. ) It probably got dislodged when your computer got dented. Though Ive never done that myself!
But basically take a look at the card in the computer and see if there is anything obvious. And see if the fans come on when it gets hot. If the fans do come on but its still too hot then its probably that the heatsink isnt in proper contact with the graphics card chip.
Though you need to be careful with power (like not shorting things, or electrocuting yourself) when it is in the computer and static if you remove it from the computer !

    That's bad news Baldi.
The up side is, you now have a good excuse to buy a newer, better video card!
Hope to see you up and running again soon.
