There's some confusion as to the deities involved in Faith's life. To save readers having to go back through previous chapters let me summarise: Faith once served the Dunmer Daedric Prince of sex, murder and secrets... Mephala. Faith always saw Mephala as a She (even though the Prince can be make or female). Her current patron known as The Divine is the Dragon God of Time... Otherwise known as Akatosh. From him comes her Dragonborn power and her new devotion....

    Hope this helps!

She absolutely "Black Widowed" that Alikr Mercenary....who was thinking VERY clearly....with the WRONG "head" !

As the poor sap lay with his blood pouring in pulses out of his throat, freshly opened from ear-to-ear, Faith probably thought to herself: "That was too easy, and too much FUN...."

Endorsed. Warm and kind thanks, Jess, and cheers, dear!

Beautiful chapter very well-written, emotional chronicle the assassination is very well made. Mephala can be seen in many ways, I have always found it illuminating its affiliation with the Morag Tong, the fact that the murder is the Dunmer society is organized, legalized and institutionalized. Mephala is the dark shadow of state authority, which acts in the shadows, kill, lie, brings chaos, divide, almost paradoxical with the aim to maintain order and domination. Mephala is the god of the CIA, of all the intelligence agencies, such as spiders that weave the spider's web around the unsuspecting citizens. It is not the god of sex, murder, secrets as such, but because they are mere tools in the weaving of the web, all-pervasive power that envelops everything and everyone. The difference with the Dark Brotherhood, is that this is chaotic, and binds the murder at the whim of the individual, while Mephala links the murder to an absolute rationality, seemingly invisible power, of which the web is the symbol. Faith perceives to be just an instrument in the hands of a power which invibile instinctively tries to escape. But she still kills the old way, she saves a woman from his persecutors, or maybe save her from receiving a fair trial for her crimes against her own people. Akatosh does not exist, Truth does non exist, only Mephala exists, and its web has no borders.

Great chapter.......... choice again......... she did choose wrong this time to use the powers of her old mistress I think will only make her new master wonder who she really serves, you can not serve two masters.......... she will need to choose soon before they do it for her I think........ great chapter.... very sexy ........ dangerous.......... loved it

An interesting entry, I must say, and an even more interesting peek into the mind of our lovely Faith. Although she is right in that the odds definitely did not favor her going in blades swinging, and would have not ended well. But, the "necessity" she speaks of? I think that it was her own cravings for killing him in such a fashion that was the necessity, and less her situation. After all, she did not have to kill him in such a fashion, entrancing him to give up the hunt should have been enough. But, as others have said, "just once more" is a powerful allure, one she chose not to resist out of "necessity".

Seems Faith is walking a razor's edge here, between what was and what could be.

Wow one sultry killer is Faith and seems like she is currently serving to divine even though she won't fully admit it to herself. That is how addiction works. One more cigarette, one more drink, just this one time. I won't do it again. But then another situation arises, one that can be rationalized, justified ... humans (and mer) are so good at this ... and you never truly give it up.

I would say she is wrong to do what she did if she truly wants to give up her past. When you truly revoke your past, give up an addiction or forswear an evil deity, you must do it without looking back. This was the second time as she also took her robe ... which was another sign of weakness.

Still hope is not lost of course but two fall-backs so close together is not a good sign. Mephala must be laughing and laughing.

You're spot on dear; she's an addict. It's funny that when I wrote this chapter I didn't realise it... but when you suggested it it was so obvious. She is addicted to the thrill, the seduction, the power of killing like this. The power of Mephala. That's (I suspect) why she was compelled to bring the robe... why she still HEARS mephalas whispers... because surely if she truly didn't want to hear the Prince she could tune Her put (or Akatosh could step in and drown her out). The fact that she still does hear Mephala might indicate that she WANTS to hear her?

But... as you say, she is still questioning whether or not killing this way is correct. And her faith in Akatosh is great... this may just be enough to get her past the DT stage!!

Thanks for your comments and insight hon!

Oh, wow, that was awesome, such intense chapter and intense in every way! Great shots too, very expressive and it was awesome to see faith beauty again, not covered by anything!

Faith is certainly a sneaky and sly lady, using guile and her special blessing if she is outnumbered.
I guess her special ability is tied with her former service to Mephala? After all Mephala is considered the patron Daedra of secrets, murder and sex by Dunmer so her servants use any means necessary to get close to their victims.
And Faith did save Saadia, for clearly it was she who paid Faith for getting rid of those warriors. Considering Saadia, there are a lot of gaps in her story to consider it truly believable but Faith has made her decision... at least Kematu died happy.. And such way of killing as well as Faith's ability to be irresistible has reminded me of succubus abilities, since as legends tell they can assume any form or at least can be seen as true love or sweetheart by their victims.. Interesting stuff.
And I somehow doubt that Faith new deity would approve of such methods, though it remains to be seen... I look forward to see the continuation and thank you for sharing your wonderful work!

Thanks dear!! Glad you enjoyed it and yes, it was nice for me too to shoot faith "unmasked" (in every sense of the word)!

You're spot on about faiths gifts coming from Mephala. The Daedric Prince taught her highest most promising assassins how to use seduction and sex to guarantee an easy kill... and dedicate said kill to Her glory. It's not a skill one soon forgets and Faith (rather Danare) will be permanently "branded" by Mephala. She will always have to fight against the urge to fall back on old ways (in that she IS very much like a succubus), and no, I somehow think Akatosh most definitely would NOT approve of this way of killing!

As Wolfgrimdark said; she's an addict... and the best way for her to come clean is to no longer do it!

She is one very cunning and sultry lady! Using her charms to lure her foe to their demise....althought would be unwise for her to use Mephala's gift less she finds herself completely sinking again in those old ways she's so desperately trying to get away from.

I suspect Faith's former mistress must quite pleased to see she can still pull the strings on her puppet....

Loved this new entry to Faith's journal !

Indeed! Very unwise to flaunt herself and open herself to mephalas gifts. But while she still question the use of such gifts there's still hope. If she did it without asking then I'm afraid Mephala would have her puppet back... completely.

      Thanks hon!!

It is interesting how she helped one being chased, seeing herself and her foe in the place of those involved, two whose pasts chase them. Those old abilities of her are very powerful, one look having one entranced, her voice like the string of a puppeteer whispered in his ear, a swift death following pleasure. It is good that she questions her use of those old abilities, could she justify using them again, what those that watched her would think, seems a risk to use them again. Wonderfully done, Jess ^^

Thanks hon! I lve the imagery of a Puppetteer whispering in kematus ear. The irony is, is that while she was the puppeteer to him, someone else was pulling HER settings...

Great story and images, Jess! I believe she was wrong in killing the leader in this fashion. It is better to risk her life and go in blades swinging, than to be forever doomed to Mephala's wicked will.

Indeed, a very good and valid point. I liken her actions in this chapter to similar to what Wolfgrimdark noted; a junkie... just one more fix!
