EDIT: It's up!
Great read, as usual! Kolmar is a great counterweight to Andil, I feel. Two very different characters.
However, there was one small thing that stood out to me. "Supposedly their combined Voice could blast men to atoms" This part did not really work for me. I doubt anyone's discovered the atom just yet. But that's just my small bit of nit-picking.
Indeed, I think Andil and Kolmar go well together myself.
As for your nitpick: I debated that bit myself actually, whether to say "atoms" or "dust" there. But then again, who says the concept hasn't at least been proposed yet? (In real life, a few early atomic theories were proposed in ancient Greece, after all, albeit with no real evidence to actually decide the question. That evidence wouldn't come until the 1800s.) And if matter in the Elder Scrolls universe actually is made of atoms (I'm not lore nerd enough to know if this has been defined anywhere), the Dwemer might've known of their existence, and enough records could've survived to enlighten later scholars and mages.
The next chapter is up!
Great battle description and enjoyed how you did the fight and the revelation of Andil being the Dragonborn and Kolmars rather dry sense of humor and support that he provides in the discussion. Bit of a twist to have an "ex"-Thalmor be the Dragonborn of legend as well
I always liked this quest, too -- especially at night, when all the fire stands out that much more dramatically.
I'm glad you liked the description, too. I actually played through the fight several times for this, trying to get all the shots I might want. (If you look at the descriptions on Flickr, you may see some evidence of this in the numbering. The fight shots were definitely not all taken in the order presented.)
And yes, it is a bit of a twist to have an ex-Thalmor Dragonborn. Still, I think he'll do well, especially with Kolmar and others around to help keep him grounded as he explores his new power.
I am enjoying seeing this twist on the Thalmor. I think Grim should meet Andil at some point and it may help him remember not all Thalmor are pure evil (relative to humans of course) :-)
Yes, it will be interesting to continue this. I've had the next part mostly done for a few days; I just have to make any final tweaks and upload and link the pics. After that will be Andil, Book 2 eventually (though I'll probably start on Aronil of Bruma's story first).
As for shouting again on the road, it made sense at the time, for the reason you mentioned.
It took me a few playthroughs of the fight to get all the shots I wanted, but I think it came out well. (Hmm, looking back, I should've taken a few shots of Andil getting killed, to save as outtakes. )
True, some Nords might not be too thrilled with the idea of an Altmer Dragonborn. Still, I think the guards at the tower are OK with it; Andil fought the dragon well enough, and with friends like Kolmar at his side, I'm sure some good words will be spread about him.
