About this image

I actually took this image for short story I wrote, if you're interested read it below this if not just check out the image. As usual comments of any kind are welcome so don't be shy.

                                                       Oublie.

This is a tale about a great adventurer that was once my most trusted and only friend. Its not the happiest of tales and some people do get mad when
I tell it but its all I have left of my friend these days. I made a silent
promise that fateful day, to never forget my time with you. To always remember
our victories together as well as our failures. Aye together we were a force to
be reckoned with and over the many years we traveled Tameriel together many
foes did we slay. While our achievements brought us both fame, fortune and
affection we never really cared for such things. No to us life was one grand
adventure with sights to see, places to go and people to meet. Many a time we
could have settled down with a fair maiden or two but our minds were always on
next destination and so we never did truly settle down. Years went by and your
age seemed to be getting the better of you, battles once easy were now truly a
challenge. The time it took us to get from place to place doubled but for the
first time ever I noticed you truly were happy. Aye it seemed all this time
we'd traveled together you were always looking for something truly to test your
limits and it seemed with age you'd found it. The first time I ever saw you
crack an honest smile was first time a foe bloodied you in battle, victory was
still ours but you'd carry a scar from it for the rest of your days, and I the
memory of seeing you truly display joy. Part of me wanted to believe that things
could go on like this forever, but you always saw things more clearly then I,
and certainly seemed to always be thinking farther ahead then me. So you
probably knew the day would come when we'd fight our last battle together and
it did come though at the time I didn't realize it. It was in some forgotten cave in Skyrim that we parted ways though part of me clings to the hope that our paths will cross again but its been so long that I've resigned to the fact that you are gone. Our last battle together was marvelous, foes came at us from all sides and even with age slowing your once graceful movements down you fell many before their blades managed to find you. In the end we won the battle, one last victory but the price this time must have been too high for as we pressed on deeper into the cave I notice your movements become weaker and slower. Finally you halted and it was here we parted ways. You told me to stand watch over this section of the cave that entered into a shaft that was open to the cold Skyrim sky. I still remember
clearly what you told me, you said you were going to turn back and head to a
nearby village to get medical attention for your wounds. You said that I should
stay behind and stand watch till you got back. However you said if someone
returned before you that was a truly worthy person I should let them press on
deeper into this cave and to even offer them assistance. After all  the time we'd traveled and fought battles together as well as all the respect and care you'd shown to me that was second to none, who was I to refuse your simple request. Then you left me and I made a silent promise to honor your request no matter how long it took. Perhaps I should feel mad at you for leaving me without so much as a goodbye. Maybe I should feel sorrow for you more than likely death, but I don't feel either. You were my one and only friend, and I know what you did was for my sake. You didn't want me to see you die. No you wanted me to always remember you as a man who never lost a battle. But its okay I know that in your last moments you were happy, you'd final met a challenge you couldn't best. Ironically it was your
own mortality that beat you through the fatal wounds your last foes dealt you.
You never did come back and no one has set foot in this cave since we entered
it many a year ago. But no matter how much time passes, I'll never forget the
time I first saw you truly smile, maybe given time my other memories of you
might fade but I'll never forget your smile. So that is the story, like I said
its not the happiest of tales but its all I have left of one person I ever
cared about. Who might I be? I'm a trusty old enchanted Silver Greatsword and
I'm still standing here, watching over the part of that cave in Skyrim I was
asked to stand guard at, faithfully waiting for either you or someone you'd
deem worthy to arrive.

                                                THE END

Author Notes:
The title of the image and part of the story is in French.  La Oublie is French for The Forgotten a fitting name for a story told by a forgotten sword.
For members around here who don't like reading I am sorry for all the text, take comfort in knowing that I don't normally do stuff like this.
Anyway I hope those of you who did read it enjoyed it, I had a lot of fun creating it, either way thanks for stopping by.

ENB
The ENB I was using in that shot, sadly the creator for whatever reason retired from modding and took down a lot of their awesome work. Still for what its worth I was using the Kinematic ENB Extensive by Kyokushinoyama _ --JawZ-- _ Solsikke737. by Kyokushinoyama _ --JawZ-- _ Solsikke737.

Yeah part of the whole point of the story was the distract people from the plot twist at the end. Yet if you look back you see clues pointing towards the truth. Its tricky hinting towards the twist without giving it away till the desired time and I'd be lying if I said it didn't take me the better part of an hour finding a way to pull it off like this.
