I'm English (from England) and everyone I know says me and whoever. Sofia and I sounds very posh. Although technically it's the correct way, most people speak in a much more casual tone and it would be accepted amongst the general public. The average person you meet in the street where I live would say "me and Sofia" which is probably why it's so confusing.
