   Destiny is a strange thing, maybe alduin knew that you are a dragonborn and he was too arrogant to let the humans kill you - I mean if the great alduin would kill the dragonborn, respect and fear from everyone (even akatosh) for the eternity

   Well i don't think Alduin mean to rescue people who were about to be executed tough you can't change your destiny... I think if Alduin knew that i'll kill him in Sovengard he could smoke a cigarette from mountain with a nice view of my execution before attacking Helgen...
