I appreciate the beginning of this part of the story when Grim, Erik and Wolfgar spent some time in their room, also the description of Wolfie drooling, chin rest on the edge of the table, it reminds me greatly to my greedy dogs
Fascinating description of the strengths and resistance that Grim acquired thanks to Fenrir and the gods, very well written and describe.
If the father Grim always been a supporter of the empire, it is true that the choice will be even harder for him. For Frankhof it was easier being given his father always supported the Stormcloak cause, even if the empire accepted the treaty with the Thalmor and it did not like them, I think the empire is no longer what it was, because the real empire would never surrender to reduce to follow the orders of the Thalmor.
The day where it surrendered, it is weakened even more than it was. Even if it is a means of reconstituted their strength for later, the Thalmor also have the time to do the same and the danger is even greater.
I look forward to see the outcome of the meeting between Grim and Mercer
And I especially hope Karliah will be able to learn more about the mother of Grim.
Oh, Grim's letter to his adoptive mother is very touching, a very emotional moment reading these lines, telling her that she would always his true mother to him.
This is normal, after all it was she who raised him, how could it be otherwise.
Whether or not our blood, the mother is the most precious person in the family, at least for me and my experiences, my mother is the person who has the most importance to me.
Just to clarify, it is Erik's father I as referencing as Mralki was in the Imperial army and does some work for them (it is a quest line in Skyrim). So Erik will be very torn if Grim follows the storm cloaks.
Grims father (the real one) isn't into politics as he is a nature spirit - but he hates the Thalmor so anything that gets them out of Skyrim he would most likely support. Grim's adopted dad, Velulfr, is a mercenary and also apolitical. Normally the BWC has been more supportive of the Imperials as they are good for business and very diverse and open minded. So hard to say how that will all work out.
I agree with your assessment on the treaty. If the emperor is a good man (I don't know if he is corrupt or not) then perhaps he was just trying to save lives in the hopes for some miracle later on. It is true the Thalmor can rebuild their strength but perhaps the Empire hopes they will find some way to become even stronger in that time. Either way a hard decision.
It is possible if they did not sign the treaty that the Empire would be so weakened it could no longer maintain its infrastructure and would collapse - offering no future defense at all. Still it makes you wonder why the Thalmor would sigh a treaty in the first place if they were so close to winning. If the Empire was so afraid they would be destroyed ... doesn't that imply the Thalmor should have just finished the fight and achieved their goal?
I suspect the Thalmor were in bad shape as well but the whole thing seems to have some holes in it. I suspect the Thalmor might have had a lot of political issues back home - they are a political party and may have been running out of support from the rest of the Dominion.
Anyhow thanks for your insight, always appreciated!
OH yes that Mercer....... well as I am still a lady cant tell you what I think of that one...... but beware...
Great shots and have to agree that Grim does not need those arms in that armor ... much better without them.
Looking forward to the continuation of Grim's tale in search for his mother. Nice that he wrote to Marissa about where they're at and his assurance that she will always be his mother for all intents and purposes. Very sweet and thoughtful.
Beware mercer though... He doesn't want to try his cack out on grim!!!
Mercer ... ugg he is so smarmy. I think Grim has underestimated him though, to his misfortune.
I just finished writing Chapter 22 (7 pages) and it is almost midnight so don't have time to add in the image links, proof read, and post tonight ... but it will be out tomorrow. Chapters 22 and 23 will be two of the biggest ones as far as content on Grims mom and his past. Had a lot of fun with 22 :-)
Thanks very much for the comments and support!
A great set.
Nicely done, Jon!
