Lovely pictures and the shot of the strawberries is beautiful. I really love the pictures with the runes and you are perfectly staged the effects of 3 runes, very well done.
I have a question, in this shot: https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2916/14127365109_4a7acf11ea_o.png
This is the berserker effect right? If yes, how do you use this effect with a human and not a Orsimer character?
As always I love the divine intervention and Daedra in your story and I love the Norse atmosphere with Fenrir and the ancient legends like the old runes. Sanguine looks very nice and his outfit is worthy of his character very well done also. I appreciate the words he offered to Erik, it proves at least that all the Daedra are not only traitors and bad.
Very nice work with great lines and magical and wonderful pictures, magnificent effects
Aye that is the berserker effect but I have made my very own mod for Grim ... actually I made it about a year ago when I first started work on who Grim was going to be and his basic story line. I have a simple outline of his main destiny in Skyrim (which is to try and free Fenrir from the chains the Thalmor (an ancient sect of them) bound him in back on the Night of Tears as Grim is Fenrir's Heir and Champion (avatar).
Anyhow his ability is called "Inner Beast" and it is actually from his grand father, Hircine, that he gets it. A left over aspect of the werewolf blood lust, even though his wolf form comes from Fenrir.
I have not gotten to the part in my story where I explain all the gifts and how they come together in his quest line. But very shortly (in part two of "letters to captain" we finally see a bigger picture).
From Fenrir he gets his immunity to frost/cold and wolf form (plus his enhanced size, strength, and illusion magic). From Hircine he gets his stealth, hunting ability, and "inner beast". From Kynareth he gets his friendship with all animals and ... well one more thing I haven't revealed yet but will very soon.
The final parting words sanguine had for the dynamic duo were both uplifting and ominous; recognising Erik's place and strength at Grim's side and the warning for grim about Hircine. I will be interested to see where you take all this in the future.
Enjoy your break from writing; you've well and truly earned it! I too am on a pause (at least from writing for the nexus as I'm just too bust with other things) but will admit to spending quite a few hours PLAYING the game! Anyway, you just do what you want to do and when you upload stories again I'll be waiting!
PS cheers for the nod - you in no way need to improve your writing, you're probably the best on the nexus!
I just finished the Gulum-Ei quest last night, which was needed before I can do the next story with Grim (where he meets Karliah and learns some more about his mother, Alfrun). But before I start the story and all that it entails I want to finish the Thalmor Embassy with Delphine so I can stay on the time line I have for Grim. It isn't exact but I do like to keep roughly to a sense of time and progression for Grim in the game as far as how he fits in all his adventures. Since Helgen its been a little over two years. By the third year I want him to deal with Alduin and confront the Thalmor as he attempts to free Fenrir from his chains.
The other story is the Temptation of Hircine, which will focus more Erik's point of view and told as a Black Wolf Company tail - possibly using a mix of Insomnia ENB and M-ENB and my own Vintage ... need to figure out what works best.
So probably one more week of playing and then next weekend will get back to story writing, which is one of my favorite hobbies.
Thanks for the kind words, you are very kind to write that even though I think I am a bit of a hack who just happens to have a decent vocabulary and vivid imagination
PS - I do hope to read some more Rathe! Like Alexi and Nataly I have missed their adventures.
I just love this story, especially when you created a warm atmosphere among them.
And I like this line,
"Always remember who and what you are Erik for that will save you in the end."
Because of you, I want to make a strawberry tart right now.
Once again, thank you for your awesome story.
You inspired me, big time!
Can't wait until they meet Karliah; she's such an enigmatic character...
Aye I like Sam in his true form as well - I expect we will see some more of Sam (in either form) as well as Hircine in the future. I am just playing this week but hope to start on the Karliah story, and Alfrun, over the weekend.
I've always wondered what that small pond could've been, since all we find is the body of an alchemist and a couple of spprigans, as well as the remains of an altar. It is rather fitting that it could serve as a scar in dimensions or a portal sealed by different powers; very interesting stuff !
Ah, to have Sanguine as an ally, whilst it is indeed a force to welcome, 'tis also one where one should exercise caution: one could call for his help and only get you and your allies half naked and drunk in the middle of battle
Or perhaps the pond was much smaller and this use to be a holy place for Kyne's priests way back in time. It is what I like about games like this - open to the imagination
Sam can be a bit fickle and mischevious at times so probably good advice on your part :-)
Glad you have enjoyed the story my friend!
great music to the brilliant story
Also many thanks to you as well Frank!
Sanguine looks very handsome in his daedric form, and i love the Strawberry-Grove images.
Vurt has done a great job on the texture.
I´m looking forward for the BWC story, told from Erik`s view.
Sounds very interesting, cause i`m a big fan of Erik!
Wonderfully written, as always Jon!
I also adore Erik so I do like writing from his perspective and this will be a good chance for me to explore some more of his personality.
The bit with the stones reminded me of the temple scene in The 5th Element in some ways, and Grim's passage through it was fitting. I liked how the Strawberry Grove was all misty and magical, not to mention the memories it evoked in Grim.
Sam's reception was fun, and his modded Daedric form is rather pleasing to the eye. (I may have to try that mod sometime. Looks like you gave him one of Aoki and gawan's Revealing Robes, too.) You seem to have summed him up quite well -- "Few were the mortals, or even divine, who could resist his charm when he wanted." And if anyone can restore drunken memories...
Sam's right about Erik; he is indeed "a man who can hold his own among titans" here. And Sam's warning definitely implies interesting events to come.
Thanks for sharing these stories with us again, Jon!
I was going to make my own pocket Grove as a mod, and share on Nexus as a type of home, but when I saw the work involved for one story ... I ended up using an existing plane and just working with that. It is also the home of Fenrir - as the strawberry grove was the "seed" in a way. It is a little pocket realm off the Forest of Twilight plane where Fenrir lives.
However Fenrir is very weak at the moment which is why he has not been around much - that is a tale coming up. I just haven't found a good place to work in Grim's concerns about noticing Fenrir seems to be fading away. Time is running out in some ways - as I work on closing in on Grims final quest. Fenrir needs to be reunited with his physical body soon or both will die.
Anyhow getting sidetracked. Glad you enjoyed Sam and Erik in this story and do appreciate the comments very much.
